American money buys Russian diesel. That money funds the missiles falling on Ukraine and the satellites handing Iran the coordinates for American bases. Iranian missiles land on those bases, and the soldiers inside come home in flag-draped boxes. Every link in that chain is known in Washington, and the one man with the power to break it has not picked up the phone to Moscow once.
