@jessphillips My daughter came off her bike on Saturday morning. Started vomiting and bad headache, so off to the doctor. Took just 3 hours to have bloods taken, CT scan, seen by emergency doc and paediatrician. We live in Spain.
@AdamRutherford@praddenkeefe I read Say Nothing, also by @praddenkeefe with my Spanish book group last year. Absolutely gobsmacked by what was hidden from us during the 80s and 90s in the UK. Putting this book on our list for next term.
@DrJenGunter Sent the article about the falsification to my Alzheimer's researcher sister. One of her PhD students ran 20+ experiments trying to find Ab*56 and they concluded it wasn't there and redirected their research.
Good morning everyone. It's been a difficult 24 hours to say the least. But we will keep going. We're currently at 17.8k followers. Do you think you could give us a boost and help us to hit 18k? That would be very cheering on this bank holiday weekend 😎
@tomhfh You moron. Everyone where I live in Catalunya thinks the UK is crazy to remove all restrictions when it's so little an inconvenience to wear a mask on the train or in the cinema.
@DrJenGunter 50 million Spaniards would disagree with that. They believe olive oil is the cure for everything - and Spain has the highest life expectancy in the world so maybe they have a point!
@ISASaxonists In Catalan, the word for skin is pell and the word for movie is pel·lícula. Now I have the lovely image in whatever language I'm watching!
@susie_dent@KKHannegan Isn't it "Going to hell in a hand cart"? (need to know as just taught it to ESL Proficiency students as an alternative to their more earthy "the world is going to shit"!)
@patricia_hamill@pipp100@TigressEllie Here in Catalonia all teachers must wear them and that includes nursery/preschool/infants and the kids aren't scared - they just look at it like another piece of clothing the teachers wear, like their aprons.
@Weebrian@mrjamesob There's a Catalan version of 'Allo 'Allo that is REALLY popular here - I'm curious to see it as I can't see how the pronunciation jokes can work in another language.
We have received a *lot* of requests asking how you can help the Afghan young people we are working with. We think there is an urgent need to support their mental health and have just launched a crowdfunder to raise £. Can you help by donating or sharing?

@mrjamesob Yes, we are in Catalunya and my son (who turned 16 in June) has his first appointment tomorrow. Lots of his friends already double-dosed. All high school students (here age 12+) will be vaccinated before they return to school in mid-September.
@MikeMayne16@robinince Here in Catalonia, if you continue to study at school 16-18, you have to do a set of compulsory subjects as well as your chosen options, which include 'Science in the Contemporary World'. So even if you choose to mainly study Art or Literature , you do get a bit of science too.
@timplusnumbers@mrjamesob@khfcofficial My dad is a tad older than that, so not him! The announcer wouldn't have had a problem with his name - Dave Davey!
@timplusnumbers@mrjamesob@khfcofficial What year was this? My dad was a goalie at Bangor when doing his teacher training! (he said the wind was so strong in one direction that goal kicks going one way would sail over the entire pitch, while at the other end he would struggle to get them out of the penalty box)
