The Special Assistant to the African Continental free Trade Area Secretary-General.Keen on African intergration, trade policy build the Africa we want.
@Mramooti0 The King in his short life time got to the peak of mountain rwenzori, he broke many ceilings. Have you even tried to climb a small hill? The king made his kingdom a global destination. Amplify his achievements and keep growing his legacy.
@patrickoyulu@UgandaMediaCent@toorokingdompm@ObukamaBwaTooro A generation king has gone to be with the Lord. We saw him grow to a man. In his short life, he impacted many.I think educationists should develop a course on King Oyo to inspire youth to lead impact full lives.MHSRIP.
@NiwaRodgers Emancipate yourself from mental slavery. Africa imports close to $24 billion in value of apparel and footwear. If we dress African, we shall create millions of jobs in the textile and footwear industry. We need leaders like Amb.Otunu to promote African wear at the global stage.
@SharonKyomugis2@otunnuolara@UN Why are you discrediting your own country man. The mere fact that he is confident enough to vie for this global position is a win in itself. How many are confident enough to take this huge leap at the global stage.
UN needs a proven warrior for peace, reform, and moral authority, and that warrior is Ambassador Dr. Olara Otunnu!
Uganda’s candidate for UN Secretary-General just stepped into the arena in New York and delivered exactly what a broken, drifting United Nations desperately needs: clarity, courage, and decades of hard-earned institutional mastery.
In his interactive dialogue with Member States, Otunnu didn’t offer polite platitudes. He declared reform is no longer optional, it is an imperative. Without it, he warned, the institution is at grave risk. He called for restoring the moral authority of the Secretary-General and the entire UN system. He invoked the Prayer of St. Francis, sowing love where there is hatred, hope where there is despair, and backed it with a track record that few can match.
This is the man who, as a young Permanent Representative and President of the Security Council in 1981, created the “Otunnu Formula,” the very straw-poll process still used to select Secretaries-General and break East-West deadlocks. This is the first Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict who forced the protection of war-affected children onto the permanent agenda of the Security Council and designed the monitoring mechanism under Resolution 1612 that is still operational today. This is a consensus-builder who has worked across every major pillar of the UN for more than four decades.
His agenda is bold and urgent:
▶️Active, hands-on engagement to end the suffering in Gaza, Ukraine, and other geopolitical hotspots, no more standing on the sidelines while civilians bleed.
▶️Real Security Council reform that finally gives Africa the permanent voice it has long been denied.
▶️Governance of Artificial Intelligence so its benefits lift humanity instead of deepening divides.
▶️Protection of children and women in conflict as a core priority.
▶️An inclusive, trusted, effective United Nations that looks like the world it serves.
While others talk about experience, Otunnu embodies it. He knows the house from the inside. He has forged breakthroughs in deadlock. He carries no narrow national agenda, only a deep commitment to multilateralism that works for the Global South and the entire human family.
The world is fractured. Trust is eroding. The UN is under pressure. We do not need another cautious administrator. We need a statesman of proven ingenuity, humility, and iron resolve.
Ambassador Dr. Olara Otunnu is that leader. Uganda has put forward a candidate of rare calibre. Member States must recognise it. The next Secretary-General should be the man who has already shaped the very process that will choose him, and who is ready to give the United Nations a new lease of life.
Support Otunnu. Elevate experience. Demand reform. Choose the proven path.
