The 1770s and 1780s had very hot dry weather in America and Europe followed by extreme cold -- worst of the Little Ice Age
The French Revolution was triggered by climate shocks.
Ask Napoleon about 1812.
Imagine seeing the results of green degrowth economic policy in Europe and saying we need more of that here in America.
The climate left wants Democrats to dust off the same old playbook for 2026 midterms.
Communist rags want people to talk about climate change more.
The New Republic: “This Is the Week for Democrats to Start Saying “Climate Change” Again”
The Nation: “Climate Was Missing From New York’s Progressive Wave”
1 year ago, I explained why California media and politicians jumped on blaming climate change for devastating fires 🔥
We'll see the same fraudulent script and cast of characters but this time it will be failures related for the atmospheric river deluge and storms.
Malthusian collapses do not happen because the Earth runs out of resources; they happen when political systems destroy the human capacity to utilize those resources.
The intellectual lineage of "Limits to Growth" and recent "Climatism" shares a specific DNA with Communist regimes: the belief that top-down central planning must override market signals and agricultural reality to save the future.
What's clear now is that climate denial is opposition in any way to the climatist agenda, which is rapid decarbonization through only wind and solar.
You will be described as a climate denier if you support nuclear energy.
Oppose population control or degrowth? Yup, you're a denier.
What this boils down to is political and ideological opposition to extreme leftist views on managing society.
New paper on the "taxonomy of climate denial" has a very illustrative bubble network chart based upon Twitter circa 2020.
You're either a good person or not e.g. a believer or a denier.
What does this mean?
Mann v Steyn climate trial continues Monday.
Dr. Judith Curry testifying about lengths to which Mann went to destroy her academic career:
Disgusting and repugnant!
Mann sent a salacious email to his friend Gavin Schmidt at NASA that she had an affair with a married professor at Penn State as a graduate student.
Hunga Tonga induced climate warming? 🌋
New academic paper suggests the spike in September 2023 temperatures were not due to internal natural variability alone, but likely contribution from volcanoes, less sulphur pollution from ships, and higher solar activity from cycle 25.

"The actual revealed preference of the climate movement is to take an arbitrary hammer to any fossil fuel project that they see, in such an arbitrary way that they want to do it before even knowing whether the project raises emissions."

6. Impact on National Sovereignty: International agreements and policies focused on climate goals can sometimes impinge on national sovereignty. The adoption of policies dictated by international bodies or agreements can be seen as eroding the decision-making power of democratically elected governments.
7. Emergency Powers and Governance: The framing of climate change as an existential emergency can lead to the invocation of emergency powers or extraordinary measures by governments. While sometimes necessary, these measures can be at odds with democratic processes if they lack transparency, accountability, or are extended indefinitely.
8. Policy Myopia: A singular focus on global temperature can lead to policy decisions that neglect other crucial aspects of environmental health and human welfare. For example, policies aimed solely at reducing temperature rise might not adequately address issues like air and water pollution, which have immediate and significant impacts on human health.
Climatism --> belief that climate change is an existential threat to humanity and requires drastic and urgent action to address it.
While addressing climate change, policymakers, academics, activists, and the media could be undermining democratic principles:
1. Prioritizing climate change over other issues: Focusing too heavily on climate change can lead to neglecting other pressing issues, such as economic inequality, social justice, and public health.
This could create a situation where the democratic process is skewed towards one issue, potentially undermining the rights of citizens to have their voices heard on other matters.
2. Centralization of power: Addressing climate change often requires large-scale, coordinated action, which can lead to increased centralization of power. This could result in reduced local autonomy and reduced public participation in decision-making.
Command and control economic and social decisions.
3. Limiting free speech: Some argue that the focus on climate change can lead to restrictions on free speech, as certain viewpoints are deemed unacceptable or dangerous. This can be seen in the recent push for censorship on social media platforms, where climate change skepticism or criticism is often targeted.
4. Disenfranchisement of certain groups: The costs of addressing climate change can disproportionately affect certain groups, such as low-income and minority communities. This can lead to increased marginalization and disenfranchisement of these groups, undermining the democratic principle of equal representation.
Climate justice is a misnomer for the harms that climatism cause to communities that can least afford expensive policies.
5. Authoritarianism: Some fear that the urgency of the climate crisis could lead to authoritarian measures, where governments take drastic actions to address the issue without the consent of the governed. This could lead to a situation where democratic principles are eroded in the name of addressing climate change.
From petty tyrants to national ones, the erosion of democratic principles is threated throughout every segment of society.
