life long Boro fan who is exiled in the south east. mum of 2 disabled young people &who is also disabled. Interested in politics, disability, environment, home.
If you are disabled please ensure that you are registered with your water company, energy supplier, electricity distribution company on their priority register- so if power cuts or frozen pipes, or water leaks they can warn you and help. Especially with National Grid warning
This is extremely shameful.
🇦🇺Australian filmmaker Juliet said:
"I was raped by an Israeli soldier inside a darkened shipping container while handcuffed and shackled on a Gaza aid flotilla.
They also used water torture and beatings."
The matter is even more shameful when the whole world is silent and toothless on this 😭
Nigel Farage - the leader of Reform UK - is under investigation for failing to declare a £5 million 'gift'.
Please RT this until the BBC gives this story the same level of blanket coverage - as it would for the leader of any other UK political Party.
I'm a British person, Brexit is a pile of shite. It doesn't work, it can't work its ability to function effectively within the framework of the modern world exists only in the minds of those who continue to support it. It's as much of a fantasy as the idea that I will one day become the captain of the starship Enterprise.
"That is so far on the wrong side of what is acceptable."
Fresh reports claim Prince Andrew obtained Virginia Giuffre's social security number and attempted to hire social media trolls to tarnish her name after she accused him of sexual assault.
@maitlis | @jonsopel
When you strip away the royal titles and spin, one thing’s clear:
If Andrew were anyone else, he wouldn’t be in a 30-room lodge, he’d be behind bars.
That’s the real scandal.
Not just one man’s privilege, but a system built to protect it.
No true democracy would tolerate this
And now #Reform are in trouble with #HMRC for failing to pay tax and VAT on tickets and merchandise from events. £400,000. (Times)
Unusually, for Reform, this is not tax fraud, avoidance or evasion.
It’s just incompetence. They literally didn’t realise they had to.
Naomi Smith, "For the last ten years we've had successive governments tell us what a great thing Brexit is, how its going to supercharge the economy, how we're going to get it done and everybody will feel the benefit of it"
"Well our polling shows that nearly 2/3 of people think Brexit has been more of a failure than a success"
"Consumers are paying more at the checkout, more to heat their homes, and finding it more difficult to travel"
*Conservative Alex Burghart pompously interrupts, then arrogantly says he'll 'let' her speak*
"Nobody is saying that all of our economic ills are a consequence of Brexit, but anyone with any sense knows that Brexit has compounded things"
"Finally, the political discourse is catching up with the economic reality that everybody knows"
Spot on. And not just the Beeb - @Nigel_Farage gets a very easy ride because he is treated as fellow commentator and fellow mainstream media critic of main parties. Never gets challenged on his Brexit role. Rarely on actual policy. Well said @EdwardJDavey

Unless I blinked and missed it there was no mention of Starmer’s trade agreement between the UK and India on the BBC
Six O’clock news but they did manage to cover the death at 71 of some American wrestler who I suspect few people in the UK have ever heard of.
I welcome the announcement by President Macron that 🇫🇷 will recognise 🇵🇸 in September.
This is an important contribution towards implementing the two State solution, which offers the only lasting basis for peace and security for Israelis and Palestinians alike.
Netanyahu's war in Gaza "now has no military logic." Israel's inadequate aid to civilians in land effectively "under occupation is a war crime." The far-right plan "to corral Gazans into a permanent 'humanitarian city' would amount to ethnic cleansing." https://t.co/5OprN0SSA9
It is pretty sickening, especially after the events of last year, to see politicians on the right, and their fanzine newspapers, positively willing others to bring about their predictions of social unrest. People in politics tend either to want to solve problems or exploit them to fuel hate and anger. That is the current dividing line. And the papers who want to make it happen will be the first to condemn when it does.
If the men draped in flags outside hotels are concerned citizens, protecting “our women”, rather than racist opportunists…
Where were they during the Wayne Couzens protests?
Protests that were almost exclusively attended by women.
There wasn’t a St George’s flag in sight.
I call again for Keir Starmer to stop standing to one side & to use the naval resources UK has in the Middle East to send aid ships directly to Gaza. Let’s see if Israel will fire on us. “State of child famine' - Gaza's deepening hunger crisis https://t.co/vvmHUU6iXR via @jrug
