@dabernathy89 yep I believe that's the plan. doesn't happen in a vacuum though. making it hard to see tweets from anyone other than Tesla fans and crypto losers would reduce the site's overall quality beyond being worth anything. even if I'm willing to pay, the people I follow aren't
this is pretty funny but I don’t see it being used much. why buy an Elon’s Very Special Boy sticker if not to slap it on your forehead for everyone to see? the visibility is the entire value proposition, there’s nothing else offered
Our focal metric is hate speech impressions, not the number of Tweets containing slurs.
Most slur usage is not hate speech, but when it is, we work to reduce its reach. Sprinklr’s analysis found that hate speech receives 67% fewer impressions per Tweet than non-toxic slur Tweets
bank was apparently good enough to invest in but not worthy of his personal assets. this slimy little weasel withdrew his money, told his buddies to do the same, then bought stock in the bank to try to profit off the run that he helped kick off
Dear fellow citizens,
We, The B-52’s, are deeply concerned about the numerous new bills that promote transphobia and discrimination against transgender individuals and drag artists, which have been introduced in the United States. We strongly denounce these bills and stand in
All white editorial board of newspaper owned by world’s 2nd richest person supports arbitrarily stripping city that’s 45% African American of its political autonomy so as to pander to misinformed, stupefied and/or racist voters. Just another day in Washington media
@MarkinAngles@joshchafetz@daveweigel Idaho pulled off Medicaid expansion and Kansas maintained abortion access, both through state referendum. that’s clearly a more effective route than waiting for federal legislation. if they can do it, those three can.
Every single state with a Democratic trifecta should pass sanctuary and shield laws for trans people as quickly as possible. If the legislature is in session, do it tomorrow. If it’s not in session, call a special session. This isn’t an issue where people can afford any lag.
Doug @Rushkoff says that the ethic of today's "entrepreneur" is to #GoMeta - don't provide a product or a service, simply find a way to be a predatory squatter on a chokepoint between people who do useful things and people who use those things.
Going to lightly suggest that if you're taking a private jet to artificially improve your Twitter engagement against the President of the United States, you do not care and have never actually cared about climate change.
@JayCartere@DelusionPosting ??? if the landlord is cashflow-positive then the renter is paying for all of these, except (possibly) the down payment. that’s the entire point
@dabernathy89 the "normal" one in your example is more readable but I don't see any reason to use .then() in either of them tbh. I default to async/await for pretty much everything unless I HAVE to manually resolve, usually because a third-party API wants a callback
@dabernathy89 aha, real world example today! I have an async function that renders a Mapbox map and returns the map instance. I want to do async stuff to the map *after* it loads but *before* I return it. Mapbox' API is callback-based so I have to manually resolve:
The speculators cannot be allowed to make a profit. I, on the other hand, who bought a home with the expectation that the price will increase perpetually, deserve to profit and will exploit my power over the local government to ensure that outcome. Very different.
