The Prime Minister of Qatar said that Hamas wanted to hand over all the civilian hostages on the first day of the war, but the Israelis rejected the proposal and refused to even “entertain the idea.”
@JenniferAishath@Dhiraagu Now try Maldives islamic bank. They make sure you don’t have to wait more than 10mins- simply cut the line when you reach top of the queue and send you right back where you started
First, it’s common for Maldivian to use “sold/vikkaifi” for long term leases.
Secondly it’s not simply the number of years that defines the nature of a project. The terms do.
The airport was given to GMR for around 25 years, with provisions for extension. It became controversial primarily because of the terms of the agreement, especially given that it involved our main international gateway.
The Ayla project became controversial not simply because of the duration either, but because of the exemptions and concessions granted and the incorporation of a township into the SEZ.
The same applies to Rasmale. It’s not whether the agreement is for 20, 30 or 99 years. It’s the terms that will determine whether this is a sound economic deal for the Maldives or something that could cause irreversible damage.
Generally, governments have little reason to hide terms when the terms are good. Transparency is easy when there is nothing to hide.
The GMR deal was done in secrecy. The Ayla deal was done in secrecy. And so far, the Emaar/RasMale deal is being handled in secrecy too.
Publish the terms. Explain to public. Be transparent. That is how the Government can earn public trust, including from PNC supporters.
@AleeVoice Whoever come to power in 2028 will not continue @MMuizzu dream project same way nobody cared about @MohamedNasheed gulheefalhu dream project.
@ctrlshiftdream@rethinkmalecity Be more practical. Each house has multiple vehicles and they need space to park the bike before entering the house.
Show us more parking soaces before building these obstructions. What if every house demands these ramps where does the cycle parking go ?

🚨BREAKING : The final moments of a child killed while trying to help an injured paramedic in Gaza.
In the first Israeli strike, a paramedic was wounded. Mohammed approached him, trying to help the injured paramedic. Israeli forces then struck the area again, killing both Child Mohammed and the wounded paramedic.
@HathifHilmy@EhJu@MMuizzu why can’t you force the Money changers to sell their Dollars daily minimum amount/ number of ordinary citizens at bank rate or revoke their licenses including all the banks not just BML.

It is an offense to force someone to commit a crime: I was waiting for a takeaway lunch at a café when a young Maldivian woman came in asking if they had USD. They said no and she left. It made me think: USD is not only needed by businesses; ordinary people need it too—for medical emergencies, relatives seeking treatment abroad, materials for education, laptops and other essentials, or legitimate online purchases. Yet Government officials and their families have access to USD, through taxpayer funded medical insurances, cushioned Embassy jobs and international travel that bring nothing in return. Many of their children and relatives study abroad. While ordinary people are often left with no lawful way to obtain it. When banks have their limits and licensed exchanges do not sell USD, people are pushed towards the black market. If licensed exchanges cannot provide a genuine exchange service, their licensing should be revoked. MMA should create a mechanism for ordinary people to purchase USD at legal rate without limits. I felt sad looking at her plight, being forced to commit a crime. It brought me back to the legal maxim – “The impossible is no legal obligation.”, meaning that a legal obligation that is impossible to perform must be excused.
