The number of young people I know who have gone from canvassing for the Labour Party in the freezing cold to vowing that they will never vote Labour while the current leader is in charge is really quite staggering. A generation feeling proper betrayal
Tomorrow, MPs will be voting on the call for a ceasefire in Gaza. It is a simple moral choice: do you support the indiscriminate killing of human beings, or do you want to stop the further loss of life?
In the aftermath of horror, we need voices for peace and diplomacy. Instead, our government has given the green light to unconscionable death and destruction.
I condemn the targeting of all civilian life. That includes the deplorable acts of terror by Hamas against Israeli civilians. And that includes acts of terror by the Israeli government against Palestinian civilians. More than 11,000 people in Gaza have been killed, almost half of whom are children.
Without a peaceful and political solution, this cycle of violence will go on and on, and it is the responsibility of members of Parliament to demand an end to the ongoing loss of life. We cannot become distracted from our overriding goal: to bring about freedom, justice and peace for all Palestinians and Israelis.
With every passing minute that the bombing continues, another human being is killed. This must end, now.
I will vote for a ceasefire tomorrow, and I will continue to demand the release of hostages, an end to the siege of Gaza, and an end to the occupation of Palestine. I urge colleagues to do the same.
This morning, a Palestinian woman in Jerusalem was stopped by an Israeli solider, who searched her phone, found she had posted about Gaza online, and then arrested her.
This is what it was like spending time with our son’s dead body. He had cancer so there was nothing we could do to stop it. I think I’m posting this because many making/avoiding decisions right now haven’t held their child’s corpse.
BREAKING: Total blackout on the internet and communications in Gaza now, paramedics can’t be reached or dispatched, and heavy Israeli attacks the likes of which "we've never seen before," says a friend of mine in Gaza. "This is the first time Israel has cut off the entire phone network. This is not a good sign."
🚨🚨🚨 Instagram have taken down the Eye On Palestine account! It’s one of the biggest and most reliable pages for Palestine coverage on the ground with more than 6 million followers
Annas is the same age as my boy. He has full thickness burns involving 50% of his body including his face and both upper and lower limbs. He was just a boy like any other anywhere in the world. He is now fighting for his life. His suffering is unbearable.
Israel killed 14 of my relatives in this aggression:
I have just received an update on the death toll for my cousins and extended family: 14. THREE of them had evacuated to the remotest in the south, Rafah. But Israel killed them.
Since the Israeli occupation of Gaza in 1967, about 40 of my extended family members have been killed by Israel, including my dear brother Hamada and my uncle Oun.
