This was without question the most consistently exciting College Swimming & Diving season ever.
We grew up a lot. We took a lot of chances. We made things happen ourselves and stopped waiting for the "powers that be" to tell us what to do next.
From opening weekend all the way through NCAAs, this season just felt different. It felt like we all collectively decided that enough was enough and that it was time to start taking steps. They might not have always been in the right direction, but we took steps, which is something we've always been reluctant to do.
There's no hiding it, though. We were backed up into a corner as a sport, and we needed to do something to start creating value before it was too late.
"Before it's too late."
A scary phrase because it implies the end, but unfortunately, I don't see many other pathways for us if we don't keep taking steps.
It's easy to sit back now and feel like we did a great job as a community with this monumental season, but I'd challenge you to sit up. Start thinking about what could be next. What could next season look like, and how can we keep moving this sport forward?
The 2025-2026 College Swimming & Diving season doesn't start this coming August...it starts right now.
