@spookyh8r@dominbydigdug It seems that Homer thinks this, and I tend to agree. It is grief which so often impells heroes to action, and it is expressions of grief which allows them to reckon with their feelings and gives them the strength (or provokes Gods to give it) to act how they must.
@spookyh8r@dominbydigdug No surprise there! But he does little to make an argument for these emotions not being part of heroic virtue ("we don't like X, so therefore X isn't part of heroic virtue"). Not his best take. I like Plato enough, but I more like the Homeric take on justice and grief.

@Sett_Kaczynski@joysgravesecret@darwintojesus i dont think youve read nietzsche. he very clearly poses "strong is good" as old pre-christian morals. better than slave morality, perhaps, but slave morality was a historical necessity. what he suggest is now going--big surprise--beyond good and evil.
I see guys in the NYT are auctioning this one off. Sure why not? lets bring back all the classics (if you’re wondering the linked source is FDD, a group founded in 2001 by pro-Israel donors “to provide education to enhance Israel’s image in North America”) https://t.co/5bMcx3ub1G
This is a particularly dire aspect of Israel’s Final Solution: the comprehensive effort to eliminate any sense of hope, relief, or fellowship among Palestinians. It’s the same reasoning behind their targeting of the families of doctors and the assassination of foreign aid workers
Trump shared this message from Israel ambassador Mike Huckackee, who told Trump that God has chosen him for this moment. He also compares Trump’s “position” to that of Harry Truman in 1945, who dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
And yet these are the same people who accuse the Iranian government of being an apocalyptic “theocratic regime.”
The area in Tehran that Israel is saying they’re about to bomb is where my uncle and aunt live. It’s a densely-populated area of homes.
Israel has normalized attacking civilians and destroying homes because world “leaders” did nothing. Just total impunity for a genocidal state.
A reminder that even now, at the peak of Iran's attack, many more innocent people are being killed in Gaza than in Israel, and that you won't read a word about them in any Western news source. It's as if they are invisible, or at least regarded as subhuman, by our newsrooms
The Israeli government’s genocide and forced famine in Gaza is collective punishment funded by our tax dollars and carried out with American-made weapons.
The U.S. must withhold weapons—from them and any entity violating international humanitarian law.
Congress must pass the Block the Bombs Act and save lives.
