I wrote a review for "Shooting a revolution" by @donatelladr
You should read it. It's a great book about Syria, conflict, visual media. How it all comes together and becomes very difficult to understand.
@donatelladr does a great work explaining

New article out! Based on interviews with Syrian media practitioners, I suggest "affective proximity" as a concept to highlight the role of the embodied and felt in reporting- a phenomenon subject to unequal power relations @MediaLSE@LSEMiddleEast

Happy to share my latest in @CritMilStudies. Drawing on fieldwork at defence tradeshows, it explores framings of the small military drone. I identify the mobilisation of visual conventions associated with ‘nature’ & interrogate the drone's normalization https://t.co/lShfsfV8yt
We have also changed the zoom link for @GhoshAmitav's lecture, "Future or Past? Climate Change as seen from the Global North and South,” due to issues with the other event. No registration required. Oct. 30 @ 3 pm https://t.co/bU5YhVtmHH
Very proud of Lithuanians for their genuine unprecedented support to the people of #Belarus in their ongoing fight for democracy, justice and human dignity. At least 50.000 have joined the #FreedomWay in #Lithuania today.
Non-trivialising #Belarusian discontent and supporting their struggle does not equal dwelling in Russia-phobia.
Even the most western-skeptic minds can do so.
Concluded good and constructive #FAC.
Eastern Med: Full solidarity w/ Greece&Cyprus; calling Turkey for immediate deescalation and reengaging in dialogue.
Belarus: EU doesn't accept election results. Work begins on sanctioning those responsible for violence & falsification.
People in Belarus are going on strike, factories are shutting down, and workers are taking to the streets. This is a march of railroad workers 👇🏻

#BREAKING
Looks like the regime lost control of Zhodzina, 60 km North East of Minsk.
The entire city is protesting, shouting “OMON out of the city!”
All state forces seem to have disappeared.
#Belarus
Can we appreciate for a moment how well-behaved these protests in #Belarus are: No violence, no riots, no damage. Instead, flowers, honking, clapping.
Just look at this: People take off their shoes when standing on public benches! This is the most Belarusian of all revolutions.
