@MissLauraFong@jcteaman I didn’t even know men’s field hockey was a sport. In America only women play it (that I know of). Often our best sports are shaped by popularity and whether there are scholarships for those sports for university.
@USMNTCORNER@dhanlin3@fullertonfc I also keep thinking about this moment and how even though he missed he was trying to will the team and crowd to get going. One of the problems with the Belgium game is the momentum just never shifted our way which drained us and affected our overall play.
@BigTenHomerCFB@barstoolsports I get the sentiment but he would not be making that kind of tackle on his own team in training. He took the risk and poorly executed it. Unfortunate, but also all on him.
@rickyhedegaard@ConservaDadUSA@Footballtweet A slo mo did change it. the ref on the field only called it a penalty and a red after seeing it in slo mo. That’s what is against VAR protocol and likely why FIFA suspended the card. Anyone that has played soccer/futbol has accidentally stepped on someone’s foot
@sualbu@TheBigChamby@MosiniElisa@USMNT Just because the decision was overturned doesn’t mean that there was corruption. Anyways, hope you enjoy watching the last remaining host nation play.
@msp8620@Selling4Premium@Footballtweet That’s fair and was actually one of the problems with the situation. The ref on the field didn’t even call it a penalty at all. The video review refs (VAR) looked at in slow motion and then said it should be a red and presented it to the on field ref as such
@Daveyy_3@Gooning_in_2026@OluwatiseSimba@Footballtweet If definitely matters in violent actions. Anyone who has played has accidentally stepped on someone’s foot. If someone intentionally stomps on someone’s foot/ankle it’s a red.
@msp8620@Selling4Premium@Footballtweet Isn’t that a good thing? Just like VAR helps to review every single offsides? It’s about getting it right. Not about whether it changes tradition
@rickyhedegaard@ConservaDadUSA@Footballtweet They should be. Hopefully this sets a precedent where they can be withdrawn. VAR is new and there was a mistake in protocol. They’re fixing their own mistake. What’s important is the right call is made in the end
