@khaledmahmoued1 This view is politicized and overlooks key legal and diplomatic realities. Stability in the Red Sea requires inclusive dialogue, not exclusion. Ethiopia supports lawful, peaceful, and mutually beneficial access to maritime trade.
The people of Ethiopia are an extraordinary and remarkable people. Other than the Creator, who can truly know and assess our people in their entirety? Through this year’s election, Ethiopians have once again shown the world that they are a people with a rich culture, deep patriotism, and the ability to safeguard the common good.
On this historic day:
* Citizens who were not intimidated by the cold and darkness of the night,
* Who were not deterred by the midday sun or sudden rain,
* Whom weddings, funerals, childbirth, and other social obligations did not prevent from participating,
* Who were not wearied by long lines,
* Whose physical disabilities did not stop them from casting their vote,
* Those whose illness and old age did not prevent from witnessing the hope of their country,
* Who were not exhausted by carrying their infant children; the future inheritors of the nation,
* And above all, whom the shouting and threats of enemies could not intimidate or stop;
The perseverance you demonstrated amid many challenges and hardships, against all odds, was a contribution made for democracy and for the very survival of the nation. For this, you deserve heartfelt gratitude.
It is a privilege to serve such a people. Therefore, may those who have been elected honor the trust placed in them and serve this people, with integrity and sincerity! A people who have paid a great price for the democratic system. May you be worthy of that responsibility.

Dangote Gets Hero’s Welcome in Ethiopia, Raises Investment to $4bn
President of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, received a warm welcome in Gode, Ethiopia, where he was hosted by Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed.
Both leaders visited the site of the proposed fertiliser plant to assess ongoing construction. Ethiopia had signed a shareholders’ agreement with Dangote Group in August last year to establish a urea plant with a capacity of three million metric tonnes annually.
Dangote announced an increase in investment from $2.5 billion to over $4 billion, reflecting expanded scope, including a 110km pipeline, a 120MW power plant, a polypropylene packaging facility, and a two-million-tonne NPK blending plant.
Prime Minister Abiy described the project as a strategic initiative to boost agriculture, enhance food security, and reduce import dependence. He noted steady construction progress and expressed confidence in its impact on farmers, job creation, and economic growth.
The project reinforces Dangote Group’s commitment to industrial development across Africa.

The Head of the State House Diaspora Unit, Mr Mohammed Bagonza, and his Deputy, Mr @HenryWabyona, are in Addis Ababa, #Ethiopia, where they are participating in the African Diaspora Stakeholders Forum.
Ahead of the official opening of the Forum, Mr Bagonza and Mr Wabyona, alongside other African counterparts responsible for diaspora services and affairs, were hosted to a welcome dinner at Toot Traditional Restaurant by the Ethiopian Diaspora Service (@ETDiasporaServ), an agency under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ethiopia.
During the dinner, they engaged with counterparts from Somalia’s diaspora services, holding discussions on areas of mutual interest and exploring opportunities for collaboration in diaspora engagement.
The African Diaspora Stakeholders Forum, organised by the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in partnership with GIZ, officially runs from today, April 30 to May 1, 2026, in Addis Ababa.
Convened under the theme, “Harnessing Diaspora Potential for Continental Development and Experience Exchange,” the Forum serves as a high-level platform for dialogue among senior government officials responsible for diaspora affairs, representatives of diaspora associations and networks, private sector actors, development partners, scholars, and civil society organisations.
The discussions will focus on experience sharing, policy dialogue, and exploring collaborative opportunities to strengthen diaspora engagement in the development of the Horn of Africa and across the broader African continent.
In addition to countries from the Horn of Africa, the Forum has attracted participation from Cameroon, Ghana, and Tunisia, recognised as best-practice countries in Central, West, and North Africa, respectively, providing an opportunity for cross-regional learning and exchange of ideas.
The Forum also aims to promote sustained dialogue and cooperation on diaspora engagement, strengthening collaboration among African governments, diaspora networks, and regional and continental bodies such as the African Union (@_AfricanUnion) and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (@IGADsecretariat).
I would also like to extend my sincere appreciation to H.E. Ambassador Bach, @ButaDubi Ethiopian Embassy in Kenya staff & the vibrant Ethiopian diaspora community in Kenya.
Your mobilization & support for key causes, including the #GERD, the Dijibouti Ethiopian Community School project, assistance to the Gamo victims, Dire Dawa housing for the needy, and many others, have been truly impressive. You constantly deliver results ahead of schedules. Thank you for your dedication and unity.
Congratulations to our mission in Kenya for successfully supporting the #Ethiopian diaspora in establishing “the Ethiopian Diaspora Network in Kenya”- an umbrella association that will bring greater unity and strength to our community there.
This is a wonderful example of how organized diaspora efforts can creat positive impact: helping each other thrive in the host country while contributing meaningfully to #Ethiopia’s development.
Congratulations to our highly dedicated athlete, turned investor, Haile Gebreselassie on completing and inaugurating his five star hotel in Debre Brhan, a beautiful city just 90 minutes drive from Addis Ababa. As the 11th addition to his resort collection, this latest development marks another significant milestone in #Ethiopia’s growing tourism and hospitality sector. His resorts are widely recognized for their exceptional services.
