Our NIH lobbying efforts last year (https://t.co/X6qUzRhvX8) was a reminder that there are great leaders @NIH who really care, but they have many priorities, so hearing loud and clear from postdocs directly can make a real difference!
Happy #BlackHistoryMonth. This month, @NIH_ORWH reflects on the contributions Black women have made to science within @NIH & the broader scientific community, despite the unique barriers & challenges they have faced. Tune in all month as we celebrate these role models.
Great piece by @KendallSciWrite highlighting issues faced by parent-scientists and describing real-world solutions (and a role for funding agencies). Awesome to see our efforts at https://t.co/zy14HxXJ9o get a mention as well. https://t.co/Iu5o9f8cGz #changeNIH#WomenInSTEM

@DoctorLoveday @NIH We agree!!! We learned that when it comes to something really big, they need overwhelming data and public pressure to get more $ from Congress. So please make sure NIH and your representatives know you need this!!!
Response from Dr. Michael Lauer, the Deputy Director for Extramural Research to our recent petition to @NIH asking for improved policies to #supportpostdocparents. Thank you! https://t.co/4XpyMZGUZt
Many @NIH care deeply about these issues and are working hard for change. We learned that hearing from us (the extramural research community) is also evidence that change is needed. Let's keep reminding @NIH and our institutions that parents need more support! #WomenInSTEM
We learned from conversations with @JanineClaytonMD and @NIGMS director Dr. Jon Lorsch that @NIH relies on data from pilots such as these to determine the need within the community. When they aren't utilized, it isn't possible to expand them...
It was an immense pleasure to interview @bjmarlin for @storiesofwin. Her story is full of passion and drive to make a difference in this world. Bianca's research relates to how trauma changes the brain for generations.

Thank you @NIH for hearing concerns of postdocs everywhere and making changes: "...effective immediately, NIH will approve an extension of one year for childbirth within the 4 year K99 eligibility window." https://t.co/sXtP43pO6d @NIHDirector #supportpostdocparents#WomenInSTEM
