NEW: I can't get this story out of my head. And I know I'm not alone. The attempt to cover up the complicity of the UK media's role in Jason Arday's death may be its sickest move yet.

Just checked @SuellaBraverman and @RobertJenrick feeds. No correction yet to say not a single one of "these men" has even made it to mainland Spain let alone "to the UK and Calais" as they both claim👇
But hey, what does the truth matter when populists can stir up "outrage" ?
Er, actually "these men" really aren't all "on their way to Calais"
They've all gone back to Morocco already, because Spain didn't let a single one into its mainland, but hey, stir up the flames, eh ?
@KemiBadenoch, I filled up my car today - I paid 149.9p per litre thanks to the war you backed.
A month ago I was paying 130.7p
But, back in 2022, when you were in power, I was paying over 180p a litre and then, you didn't even consider removing VAT from fuel.
You didn't then because you knew it would devastate the UK treasury.
You're advocating it now for the same reason.
What they’re basically saying is that Starmer and the UK isn’t allowed to operate an even moderately independent foreign policy outside of the United States. That is both ahistoric, wrong and weird for people who constantly tell us how sovereignty is what matters most.
This is a very good idea. Move the Russian frozen assets out of Belgium to the EU so Putin can’t threaten Belgium. Then all ideas around confiscation can be had without Belgium blocking. This is particularly relevant now that Hungary is blocking the EU €90 billion loan to Ukraine.
Last night, the Russians struck facilities critical to the operation of Ukraine’s nuclear power plants. Today, units at Ukraine’s NPPs reduced power generation, and one unit was automatically shut down. This is a level of attack that no terrorist in the world has ever dared, and Russia must feel the world's response.
Russia must show that not only such strikes and the war matter to it, but also the ongoing negotiations that are supposed to deliver results.
Lord Patten nails it 👏
“You don’t beat Reform by trying to ape it. Reform is a rather nasty, populist view of the country, um, which would actually further, um, demolish our reputation in the world and damage our economy.”
Brexit didn’t just damage the economy, it poisoned our political culture. And the people now defecting to Reform are the same ones who made the Conservatives unelectable in the first place.
Today, the russians deliberately struck energy facilities that are critical to the operation of Ukraine’s nuclear power plants. This attack endangers not only our security here in Ukraine, but also the shared security of the entire region and of Europe, - Zelenskyy‼️
Thank you to everyone who has helped me stay afloat while I focus on my health battles. Your support, kindness, and generosity mean more than I can properly put into words.
If you’re able to share or support, it genuinely helps ease the practical pressures so I can keep my energy where it belongs: on recovery and resilience.
Thank you for being part of my fight.

‼️BREAKING: ZELENSKYY RESPONDED TO INDIAN PM AND OTHERS WHO UNFAIRLY CONDEMNED UKRAINE FOR A STAGED ATTACK ON PUTIN'S DACHA
"You know what honestly causes confusion and, well, uncomfortable feelings? That representatives from India, the Emirates, and several other countries condemned supposed drone strikes on Putin's residence that never even happened. But where's their condemnation? By the way, condemnation of the fact that they're bombing our children and killing our people this whole time. I don't hear anything from India or the Emirates about that, to be honest," - Zelenskyy said to journalists on Tuesday, Dec. 30.
I don’t usually make New Year’s resolutions, but here’s mine: ban stock trading for members of Congress. I don’t do it, and neither should anyone else. It’s not right that lawmakers can buy and sell stocks while having access to information the public doesn’t. This has gone on way too long.
Could Mr Modi tell us all if he has ever expressed
disapproval at the many assassination attempts
made by the Russians on the Ukrainian leader
Zelensky
Hate has never built a single bridge, cured a single disease, or lifted a single child out of poverty
Yet, we allow it to masquerade as policy
History shows us, Societies which embrace inclusivity don’t just succeed, they lead
To everyone making a difference

I opened a bookshop. It was the best, worst thing I’ve ever done.
One of the most beautiful pieces you’ll read all year, or any year. Free access for all. @FT https://t.co/q1N5yPWutd
