Really sad the unreasonable position(s) ATVI management puts their devs in. Worse yet, they have to be the public facing voices to over-promise to 'take back a news cycle' then apologize when they can't deliver the pipedream they were told to chase with insufficient resources.
If you missed the sad news from the Overwatch 2 PvE developer update, here is a quick 1 minute overview to get you up to date on what was said.
TLDR; no progression, no talent trees, less replayability, no grand vision for PvE.
During a livestreamed developer chat, Overwatch 2 Game Director Aaron Keller and Executive Producer Jared Neuss confirmed that PvE Hero Mode has been cancelled, shifting development to narrative Hero Mastery missions and live PvP content instead.

Overwatch 2 update from the Dev Chat:
Original PvE vision from 2019 is no more. Talent trees scrapped, and there will be no standalone version.
It's just little bits of PvE such as missions/stories released with each PvP season as part of their live service.
Man... 😢
Really thinking about bringing the Doodles-to-guns back mainly because they're fairly easy and it'll get me painting regularly. I feel like I need to change it up though 🤔
+ Need a better way to get peoples sketches instead of getting my DMs blasted, maybe a thread?
Trying it again! Submit doodles for #DoodlesToGuns here!
2 sketches will be selected at random + I will pick a 3rd myself. Approximately 24 hours from now.

A short thread on a few Celeste game-feel things :) I don't think we invented any of these.
1- Coyote time. You can still jump for a short time after leaving a ledge.
