“Cryptography is a subfield that’s extremely conspicuous by its absence from OpenAI’s list of 376 papers!
But my sources tell me that the AI cos have now started, gingerly and discreetly, investigating whether their latest internal models can break important cryptographic protocols and primitives.

Sending lots of love to the Apple community on my last day as CEO. My title changes tomorrow, but the love I have for the Apple community never will. Thank you for being a constant source of inspiration. My gratitude is endless, and I’m excited for the next chapter!
Today, COSIC professor Ingrid Verbauwhede received the FWO Excellence Prize for her pioneering work in hardware and semiconductor security, presented by King Philippe of Belgium. A well-deserved recognition of her outstanding career.

We are proud to share that Xander Pottier has obtained an #FWO PhD fellowship strategic basic research for his work on "accelerating homomorphic encryption algorithms on FPGA hardware to enable secure and efficient processing of sensitive data".

A thread on the Homomorphic Processing Unit, the first-ever open-source hardware accelerator for FHE. Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) promises computation on encrypted data without ever decrypting it, but performance has always been the bottleneck.

Today, we are releasing the Homomorphic Processing Unit (HPU), an FGPA accelerator for TFHE-rs. This is the result of more than 2 years of work, and we are making it 100% open source, including SystemVerilog code, TFHE-rs integration, and an extensive documentation. 🧵
Introducing the SuperStation one. An open-source PS1 FPGA gaming console that supports original games, memory cards, and controllers. Load games from a disk or a backup. Region free. Supports all MiSTer FPGA cores, including N64 & Sega Saturn.

2¹³⁶²⁷⁹⁸⁴¹−1, discovered today, is the largest known prime. It's a Mersenne prime (2ᵖ-1), which are easier to find.
It took nearly 6 years for the GIMPS software to find it after the previous largest known prime. It was also the first Mersenne prime found using GPUs.
