This exposรฉ on the flaws in the onboarding processes of Chowdeck, Glovo, and other operational food tech platforms is deeply concerning.
If you visit major food hubs in Lagos, Amoke Oge, Item7, and several others, you will see dozens of dispatch riders waiting to pick up verified orders daily. However, there are also countless food vendors that many Nigerians have never physically seen or heard about until they appeared on platforms like Chowdeck, Glovo, or the now-defunct Jumia Food.
That is why it is both shocking and disappointing to discover that random or fake vendors can reportedly register on some of these platforms within hours without operating any legitimate food business. According to the investigation, fake documents, including TIN numbers, CAC details, bank information, addresses, and even fake food images, were allegedly used to gain access to these platforms.
This raises serious concerns about consumer safety, food hygiene, identity verification, and accountability in Nigeriaโs growing digital food delivery ecosystem.
Where are the regulatory bodies meant to protect consumers in situations like this? The FCCPC (@fccpcnigeria) should regulate the consumer protection and marketplace side, while NAFDAC (@NafdacAgency) should oversee food safety and vendor compliance.
Nigeria currently lacks a dedicated regulatory framework specifically designed for food delivery platforms, and that loophole is exactly what this investigation has exposed.

This young man has taken advantage of that provision, which gives individuals, businesses, estates, factories, and communities the ability to generate up to 1 megawatt (1MW) of electricity without obtaining a license from the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).
As a stakeholder in the sector, this could be another opportunity for the government to reduce its over-dependency on the national grid.
Kudos to this young man, he has surely gotten the grip on his house network, with a proper metering and monitoring system for his neighbours.
A man in Odisha dug up his deceased sisterโs grave and brought her skeleton to the bank Just to prove she had died.
He had been trying to withdraw โน20,000 from her account, but bank officials kept insisting he bring the account holder in person. Despite repeatedly telling them she had passed away, they didnโt listen.
Frustrated and unaware of the legal process, he took this extreme step.
This incident shows not just a lack of awareness, but also a failure of basic human understanding in the system.
