An open letter to @TheLancet from an Iranian-Jewish cardiologist.
Today, one of the world's most prestigious medical journals published a campaign to suspend the Israeli Medical Association from the World Medical Association — the body founded after WWII to ensure physicians would never again be weaponized by political ideology.
I'm a cardiologist. I'm an Iranian Jew who grew up under a regime where medicine was subjugated to the state.
What The Lancet just did is a disgrace to my profession.
Here's what they published — and what they deliberately left out.
During the worst of the days of the hunger crisis in Gaza in the past six months, Hamas deliberately hid literal tons of infant formula and nutritional shakes for children by storing them in clandestine warehouses belonging to the Gaza Ministry of Health.
The goal, as I said then, was to worsen the hunger crisis and initiate a disaster as part of the terror group’s famine narrative in a desperate effort to stop Israel’s onslaught against Gaza and force the return of the UN’s aid distribution mechanism, and away from the controversial Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF). Now, activists in the Strip are documenting the waste and deliberate disposal of tons of infant formula, nutritional children’s shake, and children’s powdered milk, which Hamas had hoarded away, given the saturation of the coastal enclave with humanitarian aid after the ceasefire two months ago.
When countless other Palestinian activists and I from Gaza said this back in July, August, and September, we were villainized, attacked, threatened, and made into pariahs by the “pro-Palestine” industrial complex and activist mafias, even though for Gazans, the evidence was so clearly apparent before our eyes. What those in the West continue to fail to understand is that there is no being pro-Palestine without also having a serious vigilance against Hamas’s continued manipulation of international public opinion to hide behind the Strip's civilian population's suffering, something that the terrorist organization’s own actions have led to and created.
Never allow yourself to be a useful idiot in Hamas’s propaganda. You can have compassion for the real suffering of the Palestinian civilians of Gaza, and demand Israeli action to facilitate aid entry into the coastal enclave, while still holding Hamas accountable for its part in causing a hunger and starvation crisis in the first place.
Honest question: The Western attention dedicated to the Palestinian plight is unique vs other conflicts (Xinjiang, Houthis, South Sudan, Syria, Afghanistan…). Why? What makes it unique?
The most Arabs / Muslims killed? No: Syrian civil war, Houthis in Yemen, Sudan / South Sudan worse
The most lopsided? No, China vs Xinjiang much worse.
The most systematic? Again Xinjiang worse.
Because of settler colonialism? Hardly. The Jews were in the area ~2500y before Arab-Muslims. If you squint you can consider this an indigenous movement reclaiming their ancestral land. Also Sudanese are settler colonialists in South Sudan, and the Han in Xinjiang. Sunnis are cleaning up Alawites in Syria. All Arab countries have cleaned up Jews from within their borders.
Worse for protected minorities? Many minorities involved in the crises above. The plight of women in Afghanistan is 10x worse (20M women)
The most powerless? Hamas can stop it tomorrow releasing its hostages
Because it’s a genocide? The definition (Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part) applies to many of these conflicts. Clearly applies to the treatment of Jews in Arab lands.
Because of in-group vs out-group? Understandable for Arab / Muslims (although Xinjiang?), but not for Westerners
Because of moral superiority of Palestinian leaders? Never tried peace as a long-term strategy
Because Palestinians are especially oppressed? Xinjiang worse, arguably minorities in Iran, Sudan, Iraq worse before the war
Because it’s a Western country? But then why not treat it as an ally in the wrong, instead of as an enemy?
The only arguments that seem parsimonious here are:
• Because Israelis are Jews
• Because they’re White
• Because they’re weak (they partially depend on International approval)
None of which seem morally legitimate?
This is not an incendiary tweet. I’m actually trying to understand this. What’s a legitimate and parsimonious explanation?

Oh dear. @KarimKhanQC has blocked @Ostrov_A for sharing this photo of Khan cosying up to the monster in charge of Syria and pointing out Khan’s hypocrisy over Israel.
Please do not share this photo widely.
It was useful at least in beating that truth into the heads of deluded European leaders who were still hoping Trump hadn't joined forces with Putin's Russia. The excuses are over. NATO is over. Europe's race to unite & arm itself and Ukraine is truly begun.
Families that have been murdered by Hamas on Oct 7🧵
1/ The Kotz family. They were found dead in their home at kibbutz Kfar Aza embracing each other. They were buried side by side.
The Henry Jackson Society recently published a report analyzing the fatality figures provided by the Gaza Health Ministry, which is controlled by Hamas.
Led by war expert @Mr_Andrew_Fox, the investigation uncovered, unsurprisingly, that the Gaza Health Ministry has been falsifying the data.
Here’s how Hamas manipulated the figures:
- The Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza has consistently reclassified men as women in the death tolls since the start of the Israel-Hamas war, falsely supporting the narrative that Israel is targeting civilians.
- Adults have been listed as children by altering their ages, further perpetuating the false claims of civilian targeting.
- Family reports of fatalities show a disproportionate number of fighting-age men killed over the past 12 months, suggesting that combatants are being targeted.
- People who died from natural causes have been falsely counted as victims of Israel’s actions.
In a region where 5,000 people die from natural causes annually, there have been no such reports in the past year, nor any deaths attributed to Hamas actions or misfired rockets.
- Only 3% of news articles across major media outlets mention the number of claimed combatant deaths, which stands at around 17,000, according to analysis, including reports from the BBC, New York Times, CNN, and Reuters.
Who could have guessed that this terrorist group was lying?! Right?
