🌍 International Plasma Awareness Week starts today!

Across Europe, plasma-derived medicines play a vital role in the lives of millions of people living with rare, chronic and serious conditions.

This first day of #IPAW2026, we’re celebrating the patients who rely on plasma-derived medicines, the donors whose generosity makes these therapies possible, and everyone working across the plasma community to help strengthen access and supply. 📢 PPTA calls for immunoglobulins (IGs) to remain on the @EMA_News Union List of Critical Medicines.

For many patients with rare and chronic diseases, IGs are essential therapies with no suitable alternative. Their continued inclusion on the EMA shortages catalogue reinforces their criticality.

As plasma-derived medicines manufactured from a limited biological resource, maintaining IGs on the ULCM supports the EU's resilience, security and medicines supply objectives while helping safeguard patient access.
