“Thai Government” condemns “Cambodian” ceasefire violations, vows decisive response
Bangkok, Thailand – The Royal Thai Government has issued a forceful statement, accusing Cambodia of violating the ceasefire agreement and asserting that Thai military forces were compelled to respond decisively. The government has mandated that all branches of the armed forces maintain heightened readiness to safeguard national sovereignty and the lives of its citizens. Furthermore, protests have been lodged with the ASEAN Chairman, United States of America, and China, key witnesses to the initial negotiation.
At 1:25 PM on July 29, 2025, Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior (serving as Acting Prime Minister), along with Mr. Maris Sa-ngiamphong, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gen. Natthapong Nakpanich, Deputy Minister of Defence, and Prommin Lertsuridej, Secretary-General to the Prime Minister, jointly held a press conference to deliver the government's official statement. The statement read as follows:
The Royal Thai Government maintains its sincere commitment and has exerted significant efforts to de-escalate the conflict along the Thai-Cambodian border as swiftly as possible. The negotiations that led to the ceasefire agreement between both parties prioritized the welfare of the populace, the nation's sovereignty, and the lives and property of both citizens and military personnel. These objectives align with the international community's shared aspiration for the restoration of peace for the people of both nations. The Royal Thai Government respects the outcomes of the discussions held in Putrajaya, Malaysia, and has strictly adhered to the jointly declared ceasefire.
However, it has become evident that Cambodian forces have violated the ceasefire agreement by engaging Thai forces with weaponry in multiple areas. This necessitated a decisive and appropriate response from the Thai military to protect national sovereignty and the lives of innocent civilians. Concurrently, the government has formally protested to the ASEAN Chairman, United States of America, and People's Republic of China, all of whom were witnesses to the negotiation. This action was taken to ensure they are fully apprised that these breaches are a clear consequence of Cambodia's dishonesty and lack of sincerity.
In the current situation, the government has directed all branches of the armed forces to maintain full deployment to safeguard national sovereignty and the security of the populace. Thailand will not permit any infringement upon its sovereignty under any circumstances. Nevertheless, earlier today, discussions were held between the regional commanders of both countries to explore avenues for resolving the issues. Concurrently, Thailand remains prepared to engage in higher-level negotiation processes, as previously agreed upon, to halt the violence and prevent further casualties among both civilians and military personnel. We are confident that the Royal Thai Government's actions, based on international principles, humanitarian law, and human rights, will be unequivocally apparent to the international community and will serve as a crucial foundation for substantiating the facts in subsequent stages once a durable ceasefire is achieved.
The public is requested to monitor the situation through official channels. The government has assigned the Ministry of Interior and relevant agencies to promptly provide care for citizens affected along the border, particularly regarding evacuation to their hometowns. Citizens are advised to await official confirmation from the government. The government wishes to underscore that local agencies are fully facilitating the welfare of citizens in evacuation centers.
"The government extends its commendation for the bravery of the soldiers who have dedicated their lives and shed blood to protect national sovereignty and ensure public safety."
Finally, the public is urged not to fall victim to disinformation campaigns or political ploys by Cambodia, which aim to create internal division by opposing factions. Team Thailand reaffirms its unwavering commitment to performing its duties with full effort to safeguard the nation's interests and the well-being of its citizens.

BREAKING!!! - 11:18PM UK time; I am with the flotilla online. They have just been reached by the Israel speedboats - 5 vessels circling the flotilla. The captain is instructing the team to stay calm and seated, with their passports and life jackets on. I hear them speaking with Israeli soldiers as I type... telling they are carrying humanitarian aid and go in peace. For the time being they are just circled. I am with them, recording everything.
