I am placing on public record an extremely serious incident concerning the conduct of a person claiming to be a recovery agent acting on behalf of Kotak Mahindra Bank.
The said individual has been stationed outside my rented residence since approximately 09:30 AM today and has continuously pressured me for payment. Upon being asked to disclose his official ID card and authorization, he stated in substance that payment must first be made and only thereafter would he show his ID card.
Despite multiple calls made by me to Kotak customer care since morning explaining the entire situation, no meaningful intervention was made by the bank. I even placed my phone on speaker mode so the bank representatives could directly speak with the said individual, however he stated that he would not speak to any “third party”, to which Kotak customer care personnel themselves responded that he was “from Kotak” and not a third party.
I also contacted the local Kotak Jodhpur branch, where a person identifying himself as “Himanshu Dave” repeatedly insisted upon payment and stated that the recovery agent was “doing his job”, despite my clear communication regarding severe financial inability and the ongoing intimidation at my residence.
More alarmingly, on 10.05.2026, the very same individual attempted to open/interfere with the outer metal gate of my residence while I was away and my wife and minor daughter were alone at home. He reportedly managed to open two latches of the outer gate but could not access the third latch as it was inaccessible from outside. This incident caused grave fear and panic within my household.
The said individual also made statements to my wife including “मैं गुंडा बन कर दिखता हूँ”, which has caused immense fear, mental harassment and serious concern regarding the safety and security of my family members.
CCTV footage, call recordings, photographs and other evidentiary material relating to these incidents are being preserved. I hold Kotak Mahindra Bank and the concerned officials directly accountable for any untoward incident arising from these coercive recovery practices.
I request immediate intervention, investigation and accountability regarding these actions, which appear completely inconsistent with RBI recovery norms, lawful recovery procedure, and basic protections available to citizens.
