We assume that clean eating is really good for our bodies bc it helps us lose weight. But eliminating certain foods also rids us of natural vitamins. There can be decreases in iron, salt, and folic acid which your body can negatively react to. Eat what you want! @beh353#beh353
If you are feeling badly about having eaten foods today that don't fit into your "clean eating plan", think again. There are unintended consequences to #cleaneating.

@MoracaCassandra@beh353 You made a great point! We can apply all that we have learned and better understand our patient as a human rather than a person with bad eating habits. It’s important that we pay attention to our patients values and lifestyle to encourage healthy behaviors #beh353@beh353
As this semester wraps up, i’ve learned from this class that as a future healthcare advocate it is important to understand what is and isn’t in my patients control. blaming the patient or not providing them with adequate care can lead to worse nutritional habits #beh353@beh353
@MoracaCassandra@EmmaDArpinoRD@beh353 I think this was very important for Emma to highlight! The food is not always the problem, instead it’s the relationship we have with it and the language we portray against it. We need to be more mindful with the words we use to express our thoughts about food @beh353#beh353
This is really hard for me to believe. I’m sure in some cases diets can help mental health disorders, however diets can easily cause eating disorders. This can negatively affect a person’s mindset leading back to mental health issues. @beh353#beh353
Thank you @EmmaDArpinoRD for your insight! You showed how processed food can be good. All processed items are not bad. They gives us the food we want and allows us to store them for when we want to eat it. It still has the same nutrients and benefits as fresh food @beh353#beh353
As an athlete in high school, I never had oatmeal for breakfast. I always thought it was the same thing as cereal so i just stuck with my Kelloggs. But clearly, it’s a great source of protein! @beh353#beh353
A good pattern for athletes is to eat breakfast like a king. How about a satiating bowl of #oatmeal cooked in milk + #peanutbutter + banana? This blog explains all you might want to know about oatmeal: https://t.co/GA5zxmIzqK
@MMansour0808@beh353 Young children are very drawn to colorful pictures and interactive articles! It catches their attention and def makes them want to read more. The article looks very informative and easy to follow! It’s nice how the plate includes healthy options and alternatives @beh353#beh353
This article includes a beneficial video on what to eat during pregnancy. It’s organized in a way that makes it easy to read. The subcategories include veggies, protein, dairy, etc so the reader can pinpoint what they’re looking for @beh353 #beh353 https://t.co/rpttdFjVqG
Recently I have read a lot about how diets don’t work. there are so many studies that show diets don’t work so why do people keep trying them? UCLA report showed that people who lose weight during diets regain it all back in 5 years plus more. so is it worth it? @beh353#beh353
@kjohnson31@beh353 it’s really sad to see dr’s shame and judge overweight patients by their physical appearance. there’s always a story and reason to why a person may be obese. physicians forget that not ALL obese people are “stupid, lazy, worthless”. this stereotype needs to stop! #beh353@beh353
after watching the video, it is clear that healthcare providers are not addressing and approaching the topic of obesity, without bias, to their patients. In the future I will be aware of sizeism and make sure my patients receive quality care, despite their weight #beh353@beh353
Water is so important! It has so many benefits ranging from clearing up one’s skin to flushing out toxins. I try to drink atleast 64oz of water a day, sometimes even more. I recently began adding lemon to my water, which makes me want and enjoy it more :) @beh353#beh353
@A_brown_8@beh353 This fact was news to me too! I’m really interested in knowing the science behind it as well. In the future I am def going to keep an open mind about all the reasons my patient may be obese. it’s not fair to judge a book by its cover. @beh353#beh353
As Corden stated obesity is complex. I was 😳 to see the stats between obesity & education. ppl with a bachelor’s degree or more have a higher obese rate than I expected. moving forward, regardless of someone’s degree I will still educate others on healthy habits @beh353#beh353
I’m happy to see this program for children. Alot of kids can’t bring food from home and some parents aren’t able to afford healthy items esp with the current prices. This programs allows kids to eat nutritious foods without parents worrying about the expense of it @beh353#beh353
Today marks the start of #CACFPWeek. The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is an FNS program that provides reimbursements for nutritious foods at child and adult care centers and programs.

@KellyK0451592@beh353 I love fruits! But like you, I find myself putting back cartons of fruit bc of how expensive they are. It’s sad to see the prices so high, but we also have to remember what our money is going towards and how it’s paying for the labor put into cropping the fruits. #beh353@beh353
A barrier I relate to is unhealthy diet of friends & cousins. When I’m with them, they suggest we eat fast food bc of the easy, tasty, cheap meals. I end up following along, but I’d rather eat a home cooked meal or at a restaurant where I may have healthy options. @beh353#beh353
Wow, I didn’t know that avocado was a type of fat! It’s important to remind people that not all fat is bad, bc there are nutritious and beneficial factors to some of them. I’m glad to learn that my avocado toast and homemade guacamole helps prevent heart disease #beh353@beh353
Contrary to popular belief, not all fat is bad fat. There is good fat! That avocado that you ate on your toast this morning is a great source of monounsaturated fat, helping you combat the risk of developing heart disease!
