There are 2 types of meditation.
one is when you concentrate on something specific: your breath, a noise, a feeling etc.
The other is to simply exist, without doing anything.
Actionable step: try both and see which one works best for you.
When Buddha tried to stop his thinking, he struggled with his "monkey mind," trying to force thoughts away. Frustrated, he nearly quit. Then he discovered the power of observing thoughts without judgment. This insight led to mindfulness and enlightenment
Some "spiritual" people understand the spiritual concepts with their logic, but they did not expereince them.
Acting like that is the same thing relegious people do.
