She Ate First.
She Included First.
She Credited First.
She Owned Her Decision First.

A couple of hours ago, at the Music College Auditorium, those four lines stopped being clever wordplay and became a lived experience.
@chitraravi's maiden book - "She Ate First" about the lessons she learnt at the feet of her paternal grandmom - Seetha Paati was launched, and for two hours the room felt less like a book event and more like a quiet revolution that refused to announce itself with slogans.

It was an absolute pleasure to host a fireside chat with Chitra, with whom my journey is one of delightful similarities. Apart from both of us being social entrepreneurs, moms of kids with shared schooltimes, Stanford Seed students & today grandmoms ourselves - Chitra and I share a rare friendship that is an extension of each other's lives in a way very few relationships are.

The evening brought us the mind-opening address of @realradikaa, still carrying the unapologetic fire of Pavunuthaayi of #Thaikizhavi, speaking the way only a woman who has claimed her space can speak - completely authentic, zero performance.
Listening to @ckknaturals, one could reflect on the concern of the real male ally -one who has watched women build empires one deliberate choice at a time and wants a million more women to do so!
Shreya Rao, the Miss India finalist, brought the clear-eyed energy of a generation that no longer needs permission to be both beautiful and ambitious.
We spoke of Seetha Paati’s high-agency DNA to the anatomy of women’s tiredness to the non-negotiable act of making intentional choices and signing one’s name under the consequences
Two hours disappeared the way good conversations do,without anyone noticing the clock. It was an evening where everyone of us remembered our own Paatis and allowing the gentle realization to dawn that eating first is not greed but the most radical form of self-respect.
When the evening ended, the book felt less like a story and more like a mirror held up to every woman who has ever been told to wait her turn. Seetha Paati ate first.
The rest of us are only just learning how.
