I would like to raise concerns about the way CIMAS is administering its medical aid packages and whether members are being treated fairly.
I am enrolled under the Secure Private (Corporate) package, which is advertised at USD 78 per adult and USD 55 per child. However, I am currently being charged at the Secure Private Plus rate of USD 93 per adult. This higher rate is being applied across my family, including my two children, aged 2 and 4 years old.
When I visited the CIMAS Borrowdale office to seek clarification, I was informed that if one family member uses the medical aid too much , the tariff for the entire family increases. This explanation raised several questions for me. Medical aid contributions are generally expected to be based on the package selected, not on whether members make use of the benefits they are paying for.
I also approached my employer's HR department and was told that these are the rates CIMAS is charging all employees. After speaking to several colleagues, I discovered that they are experiencing the same issue.
