The Platner tattoo story isn’t about Platner.

It's about the people who spent years calling everyone on the Right a Nazi for the slightest association, only to line up like rank-and-file partisans behind a Democratic Senate candidate who wore a literal SS Totenkopf tattoo for 18 years.

It's a story about how years and years of moral indignation from the Very Serious People™ class proved to be a paper-thin veneer over your team jerseys.

It exists, but caution should be exercised when making strong assertions about what was being described.

We say things like "the sky is blue", when in reality we're referring to a large atmospheric expanse, the light through which has become sufficiently scattered and separated by wavelength, giving it a blue appearance.

Does the sky exist? Yes. Is it blue? Sure. But if you travel straight up you're never going to encounter any blue sky substance.

I'm not saying that "firmament" and "sky" are necessarily synonyms, but people who are saying "it's a physical dome" are going well beyond what Scripture says.

My wife and I thought we were done after our second son 7 years ago, but God had a different / better plan for us, and now I'm writing this with our 2 month old girl sleeping on my chest. Excited for you for your next chapter. We serve a Good Father, and it's an awesome (and sometimes terrifying) responsibility to model for these little ones some of what that relationship means.
