STUDENTS WALK OUT: Dozens of students left their classrooms this morning to send a message. They spent under a half-hour earlier today protesting gun violence and demanding change.

I’m no longer interested in “common sense” gun control. I want TIGHT gun control. I want RIGID rules. I want it to be HARD. If this is what it takes to keep our kids safe, so be it. I’m so fed up.
There is no lack of irony that those who would stop at nothing to strip a woman of her rights and autonomy and force her to give birth are doing nothing to prevent that child from being murdered in their school.
Happy Teacher Appreciation week to all the great educators who have shaped me!! @mrs_w_teaches, @dr_s_bertrand, @miss_rosofsky, all of #ELE301 and many more I don’t want to pester for Twitter handles!
My school community found out tonight I’m not returning next year.
I’m emotional reading emails about what kids learned in class.
My goal wasn’t to make kids historians, but rather learn functional history they could use to make themselves & the world better.
I hope I did that
The only time I enjoyed school was when I enjoyed the teacher. Even if I hated the subject, the teacher made it worthwhile. In education, relationships matter most.
@eepainton @DrPorcher Love this response! Complete agree. It is our jobs as educators to look after our students in order to not only teach them but to keep them as happy and healthy as we can!
@DrPorcher Q3:One of the most integral responsibilities of any educator is to act as an advocate for students. This doesn’t apply just for students in your class but for all students within the building who need an authoritative figure on their side.#ELE301#teacheredumatters#TCNJEduLions
@DrPorcher By banning the use of Black language to such extremes, educators are directly placing their students at a disadvantage by thwarting any opportunity to exhibit intelligence as well as discouraging positive student initiated interactions. #ELE301#teacheredumatters#TCNJEDUlions
@DrPorcher Q2: Anti-blackness is taught through policing language. Many Black students communicate through Black English, a language mistaken for an incorrect application of Standard English in most educational spaces, when it is in fact a complex language of its own…(1/2)
@DrPorcher @dr_s_bertrand Hello! My name is Paola Ramirez. I’m an elementary education and English major at TCNJ! #teacheredumatters#ELE301#TCNJEduLions
“You have earned this spot. You are worthy. You are a great American.”
Senator Cory Booker offered Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson a respite from conservative attacks during her Supreme Court confirmation hearing, endorsing her candidacy in emotional terms.

Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, President Biden's Supreme Court pick, audibly sighed when Senator Ted Cruz of Texas asked her about "Antiracist Baby" by Ibram X. Kendi, a children’s book he said is taught at the school where she sits on the board of trustees. https://t.co/VMT7EWJFXe
Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson has proven that she is unequivocally qualified to serve on the Supreme Court in the three days she has sat before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

We asked our photographer, @sbmaneyphoto, to reflect on this moment she captured of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s daughter Leila, 17, smiling at her mom on the first day of the hearings: "I knew how much it revealed in her admiration for her mother as a Black woman."
I wish we would move away from the idea that differentiating instruction is less important for older students.
I don’t care if you’re teaching 1st grade phonics, AP Calculus, or a doctoral seminar — your lessons should honor the diverse needs of your students.
