🎉 Delighted to share that Lithuania’s candidate to the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Ms. Dovilė Juodkaitė, has been elected for the 2027–2030 term!
🙏 Sincere thanks to all delegations for the strong support and trust shown.
👏 Congratulations to all newly elected experts — your mandate carries the responsibility and opportunity to drive meaningful progress for the rights of persons with disabilities worldwide
Another drone. Another air alert in the Baltics. This time - near Lithuania’s border with Belarus. #NATO Baltic Air Policing was activated.
These drone incidents don’t exist in isolation. The growing wave of drone violations across the Baltic states is a direct consequence of Russia’s war against #Ukraine and #Belarus’ complicity in it. Moscow and Minsk are responsible for breaches of our airspace and threats to civilian safety.
Meanwhile, Russia continues its information offensive - falsely accusing Baltic states of enabling drone strikes against Russia. Lithuania has never allowed its territory or airspace to be used for such attacks.
The NATO& EU response cannot stay symbolic:
-NATO’s relevant capabilities - Eastern Sentry and Baltic Sentry missions - must be reinforced
- EU Eastern Flank Watch initiative must be implemented& Special EU instrument for resilience of Eastern Flank urgently created - NATO’s frontline needs air defense& stronger counter-drone capabilities - EU critical infrastructure protection must be strengthened, as well as measures to counter Kremlin’s propaganda narratives
What an intensive and meaningful three days it has been for Lithuania’s 🇱🇹candidate to the UN #CRPD, Ms. Dovilė Juodkaitė. Meetings, bilateral exchanges and a reception brought together many important voices committed to advancing the #rights of persons with disabilities. 🤝 The discussions clearly showed that achieving meaningful progress requires strong political will, greater #awareness and continued efforts to change attitudes towards disability #inclusion.
If elected to the UN CRPD, Ms. Dovilė Juodkaitė would advance the following priorities:
❗️Empowering Mothers with Disabilities
❗️Ensuring Safety and Rights in Emergencies
❗️Promoting Access to Justice
At the #NPT2026 Review Conference, #Lithuania spoke on the peaceful uses of nuclear energy.
🇱🇹 Our key messages:
☢️ We support every state’s right to civilian nuclear energy under NPT Art. IV - and @iaeaorg role in making that right real.
⚠️ That right is being aggressively denied to 🇺🇦 Ukraine. For 4+ years, #Russia has illegally occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP - militarizing it, cutting power, detaining and intimidating Ukrainian staff, raising the risk of a nuclear accident with cross-border consequences. Lithuania firmly rejects any reactor restart.
🚧 Astravets NPP - built by Russia’s accomplice #Belarus just 40km from Vilnius - without full compliance with international safety standards. Unacceptable frequent failures, zero transparency, and now talk of a third reactor.
💡 Lithuania closed Soviet legacy Ignalina NPP - a difficult but responsible decision. We now explore SMR technology, in full alignment with international safety standards.
Nuclear safety must never be a tool of coercion.

Taking part in the #UNSCReform negotiations, Lithuania 🇱🇹 reiterates its position demanding full adherence to #UNCharter requirement that at #UN Security Council "a party to a dispute shall abstain from voting". Condemning #Russia’s abuse of “veto” power while pursuing its war of aggression against Ukraine 🇺🇦 , Lithuania strongly supports all efforts aimed at limiting use of veto.

It was a privilege to open the GCTF workshop on supply chain resilience. For Lithuania, resilience is not theory but practice – from overcoming energy dependency to resisting economic coercion. Our journey shows that with trusted allies, real strategic resilience is possible.
#Lithuania consistently advocates for higher defense spending in Europe - and we put our money where our mouth is. This year, we rank 2nd among #NATO allies in defense spending.
Next year, we’re raising the bar and going above 5% of GDP. Strength is built through investment.
