Rewatching that "In Defense of Dark Souls 2" video to force myself to be open-minded and having to stop and take a break every 10 minutes when Mr Bomber says something like "You're actually not supposed to use the lock-on mechanic" or "Dark Souls' connected world is bad actually"
To everyone being loud & wrong about Mixtape.. "Loudness is earned...there's a situational awareness to loudness...because loudness is a rare and precious commodity. Not everyone gets to be loud, you gotta earn it! But [blue check marks], they buy loudness. And thus, they suck."
def gonna be writing abt this game within the next few days i have so many feelings about it, the discourse surrounding it, and why the medium of video games is so special
doesnt even seem like ill like it all too much (sayonara wild hearts but bathed in nostalgia for a life i never had and non-original isnt too appealing ngl) but fuck online gamers they deserve nothing
The interesting thing about mixtape is that POC are able to appreciate the Art despite not seeing ourselves in the characters or culture , However when the roles are reversed we often don’t get the same courtesy.
It's because they view "art" as a signifier of worth, not an intrinsic status or inherent value.
it's not "art" if it's bad or weird or doesn't line up with their notions of quality. "Art" means "good" and I like good things so good things must be art, the thinking goes.
