modern travel is increasingly flying 10 hours to experience a slightly different version of the same globally optimized lifestyle.
same third wave coffee. same natural wine bar. same brutalist menu. same sourdough. same beige hotel. same tasteful ceramics. same instagram lighting.
what a ridiculous convergence.
We dramatically underestimate how much change management it is going to take to automate most knowledge worker tasks.
Between data being in legacy environments or systems or without good APIs, context missing for doing the task, teams that are less technical, and other factors, there’s still a lot of work to drive real AI transformation in an enterprise.
This is actually great news if you’re building right now because the opportunity is to build the software bridges to make this easier, or to build new services firms to help with this change management. Opportunity is all around for those looking.
There's a blandness to contemporary architecture. Sure, it can be sleek and impressive, but so much of it is ultimately boring.
Whenever I bring this up, people default to the same defense: “Well, interesting architecture is expensive.” But that argument breaks down when you watch shows like Selling Sunset, where even $40 million homes are covered with the same white walls, right angles, marble islands, grey-scale colors, and a lack of cornices or any ornamentation whatsoever.
All this to say that the lack of character in contemporary design isn't ultimately a cost problem. If it were, the world's wealthiest people wouldn't end up in interchangeable white boxes.
Many people prefer this dominant style. And that's fine! My problem isn't with the style itself, but with the fact that it's increasingly the only option available. A thriving civilization should have an expansion of offerings, not a contraction of them. But the market has converged on a single aesthetic.
Just recently, a New York real estate agent said to me: "If you want an apartment with character, you're going to have to look for one built before World War II."
"So you're saying that almost nothing built in the past 80 years has character?"
"Yep, yep... that's right."
Deeply disappointed with @kiamotorindia@KiaInd :brand new Seltos not working after 2 mnths/869 kms. Upon repeated follow ups told battery issue, now given a non technical flimsy handwritten report by a local mechanic that battery okay. No accountability or answers
Farmers work under the sun even when temp rise to 50°
Despite this they are losing their crop and struggling to make ends meet.
This is a story on how farmers are living with climate change.
Please watch this video, a story we can't ignore anymore 👇
1/ India on Fire.
The Fire Map shows locations where fires were detected by satellite during the last 24 hours. Regardless of whether these fires are triggered by humans or not, extremely high temperatures and dry conditions due to climate change are exacerbating them.
Rural India face the brunt of waste dumping while urban India consume, consume and consume. Folks, think about plastics before you buy anythin.#plasticpollution
