Another re-read. Another spring of emotions and sentiments. And what stuck with me this time around were these lines - “In a Universe of ambiguity, this kind of certainty comes only once, and never again, no matter how many lifetimes you live”.

Some books are near-impossible to put down as the call of the story is far too stronger than the call of the exertion of body or mind. This is one such book. In under 175 pages, Robert James Waller managed to make me hook onto the story of Francesca & Robert Kincaid and kept me at it long after I finished the book.

While the author asserts - ‘Analysis destroys Whole’; the fact of the matter is that there is a certain degree of magic in parts too. The book is about words and the power of words, as simple as Blue, Voyageur, India & Peregrines. Wish it was longer and more descriptive.

My take is that the movie version of this book might be even better than the book, with Meryl Streep playing the very layered Francesca and Clint Eastwood as Robert Kincaid (while also directing the same). Irrespective. The book is recommended to those who like the lazy loveliness of Classics and are ok to spend hours melting in the hot Iowa sun in this one. And the steamy romance of protagonists ofcourse.
