One key factor that goes against Trains vs Flights for short distances for well heeled is the approach to the station.
Most Railway stations were built during the British era, with incremental urbanisation, all such stations are in the center of the city now, narrow roads, encroachment, old city vibe, shady hotels and touts. All of it paints such a picture in the head, that one goes for a flight ticket just basis muscle memory. Even if they have no urgency of time.
Businessman and columnist Suhel Seth delivers a hard-hitting reality check on India’s crumbling urban infrastructure—and its impact on Brand India. Is this the future we want? #suhelseth#storyboard18#mumbai#gurugram#bengaluru#citynews
I sincerely encourage every Indian to visit at least one developed country.
Even if it’s not Europe or the U.S., visit China or Vietnam — it will open your eyes.
You’ll experience what real governance, meritocracy, and urban planning look like.
Then you realise how taxpayers are looted in India and provide average Infra, garbage all around, no clean air and mediocre politicians
"It's not that India lacks resources; it lacks responsible governance."
Every Indian is elated with this recognition.
These ‘Maratha Military Landscapes’ include 12 majestic forts, 11 of which are in Maharashtra and 1 is in Tamil Nadu.
When we speak of the glorious Maratha Empire, we associate it with good governance, military strength, cultural pride and emphasis on social welfare. The great rulers inspire us with their refusal to bow to any injustice.
I call upon everyone to go visit these forts and learn about the rich history of the Maratha Empire.
📍Zebra crossing

▪️ India to reduce tariffs on “high-end cars” imported from the UK from the current 100% to 10%
▪️ Made-in-India cars, bikes exported to the UK to also benefit from tariff elimination

Middle aged Indians have an instant affinity towards Ghibli art coz majority of them have been exposed to Japanese artistry coz of Jungle Book by Fumio Kurokawa on DD-1. It’s an instant warm world of nostalgia.
Just like no one cares about dial designs in a digital watch compared to an analog one, no one really cares about power figures in an electric vehicle.
It’s all meh!
The real engineering is still considered how you nail an ICE engine.
When you have chumps like @Dev_Fadnavis who lead Maharashtra you’ll keep coming up with howlers.
In a latest move., our great leader from @BJP4India has declared that you can’t buy a 4 wheeler if you don’t have a parking slot.
A. If you are rich you’ll simply buy a parking slot in a high rise.
B. If you’re poor you’ll get into a lease rental agreement with a parking slot in your neighbourhood.
C. If you’re neither but a driver, it’s not your problem anyways because the no of vehicles in any case far exceed the number of people in a city like Pune.
Indians will innovate, Gerrymander, jugaad and always find a workaround.
Meanwhile look at the sheer amount of ignorance and hubris that this government and our leadership is full off.
What are they trying to achieve.
Decongesting the city and providing relief from traffic jams.
Let’s take a look at other cities and their densities to understand what we are up against,
Population Density
Tokyo 6158 / square kilometre
Hong Kong 6910 / square kilometre
Seoul 15533 / square kilometre
Bhawani Peth 44380 people / square kilometre
This is Pune.
Basically
Mumbai / Pune sustains 47000 people in many places on average and the Pune average is about 10412 people per square kilometres - this much load already exists.
Let’s look at Hong Kong as an example.
On one side it has the Ocean.
On another it has China.
Where was Hong Kong supposed to go other than upwards on all its hilly tracts.
That logic applies to Singapore too. Of course Singapore has Malaysia too to grow into, but they don’t have any love lost between the two ancient island neighbours.
Half of South Korea lives in Seoul.
In all these cities / countries they have a huge plethora of transportation options.
Trams
Double Decker buses
Cabs
Congestion charges
Hefty Parking charges
All ensure that traffic is discouraged
But, the chumps out of the @RSSorg stable are absolute geniuses. They’re superb at doing one thing and that one thing they’ll mess up properly.
Demonetisation.
Lockdown..
No Parking - No Car.
Slow Clap 👏🏾 @PratapSarnaik
India is ripe for 1000 Copenhagens.
Just Pune District alone encompasses 15642 square kilometres.
9000 out of which is arid and empty.
PMRDA is supposed to plan for the region.
PMC and PCMC twin cities are 319 and 200 sq km respectively.
That’s 519 square kilometres total.
Chandigarh India’s most well planned city with a population of a million plus people is only 100 square kilometres.
Pune district can accommodate 150 Chandigarh’s.
The PMRDA budget is 3500 crore. That’s 10 crore a day spent by a planning authority,
They haven’t built even one Chandigarh look alike in Maharashtra.
The little clone we have is at @magarpatta_city which ironically has been built with a vision of a private entrepreneur who is very close to @AjitPawarSpeaks
The best architects in the world can be hired to decongest Pune and Mumbai.
Every district and later every Taluka can resemble a Magarpatta.
But, Satish Magar won’t be made the urban development minister.
In case you forgot Maharashtra has only 36 districts and 358 Talukas.
A Rickshawalla from Thane @mieknathshinde will certainly be made urban development minister and he along with his sadak chaap real estate developer minister colleague will now force parking down the throats of ordinary Mumbaikars because those who own cars should also own parking lots. I have news for you 90% of the population of Mumbai doesn’t own cars. The car population is barely 15 lakhs and bikes are 30 lakhs.
if you live in any society.. half or more than half the parking spots are actually empty and there's very little provided to visitors.. that's the real problem. 90% of cars stay off roads during peak hours. You can’t drive in today’s traffic.
Providing extra parking only wastes prime ground floor land in posh areas where a cloud kitchen, stationery or grocery shop could open or a laundromat could exist
