Hyderabad in Gridlock: Rains Turn City Into a Traffic Nightmare
It’s 9:40 PM. I started from my office, Times House, at 8:30 PM. Still stuck near Erragadda. Haven’t moved an inch in the last hour. Hyderabad has collapsed once again after rain.
Not a single traffic policeman on the road. These days, the role of traffic police seems limited to clicking pictures. No one managing traffic, no real-time coordination. It’s become a photo-ops department.
Waterlogging, overflowing drains, jammed junctions, broken U-turns, and zero civic sense. Roads without carriageways, lanes without order.
This isn’t a rain problem. This is a failure of urban governance.
Every downpour turns into a disaster. How can you make Hyderabad a global city when it collapses every time it rains?
