Op Sindoor: What, why, how:
3 objectives laid out: political, military and psychological. All three achieved on first day.

Thereafter India said, if you hit, we hit back harder; you stop, we stop. Rinse, repeat
India’s massive strike on airfields forced Pakistan DGMO to sue for peace at 1300 on Saturday. Indian DGMO could take the call only at 1535. Pakistan asked for stoppage of firing. Indian in keeping with its stance from beginning of Op Sindoor, said ‘you stop, we stop.’ So the decision on stoppage of firing. The only channel that is open between India and Pakistan is the DGsMO channel. No political or back channel has been activated.

No change in India’s stance on J&K, despite what Trump has said, say sources.
Political objectives of Op Sindoor: Several messages: Holding the Indus Water Treaty in abeyance was the clearest message to Pakistan: You can’t continue to use terror as a state policy and expect India to adhere by a treaty that needed to be changed/updated anyway.
Psychological objective and messaging to Pakistan Army: The new normal: No place in Pakistan is safe.
Stark difference in intensity if the Indian attack and Pakistan’s response forced Pakistan DGMO to make an urgent call for stoppage of firing. But Op Sindoor is still on. If Pakistan violates the agreement, India will hit and hit hard
Military objective: Hit 9 carefully chosen targets for maximum impact. Top three targets: Bahawalpur, Muridke, Muzzafarabad. Why? The first two were considered in Pakistani and rest of the world’s mind as untouchable because they were headquarters of JeM and LeT, and were brazenly and openly supported, sponsored, sheltered and funded by the Pakistani Army and the ISI. Muzzafarabad because it is the launch pad for many attacks on India. The heaviest ordnance was used against the first two. All three were razed to the ground. Over 100 terrorists were killed, sources pointed out.
With this, India demonstrated that terrorists and their leaders are not safe anywhere in Pakistan, sources pointed out.
The big Q: Why did India agree to stop firing? Govt sources: All three objectives were achieved (see my earlier tweets). India’s aim was not to decimate the Pakistani Army or break Pakistan again, not at least this time. Having achieved the aims, India was willing to take the off ramp if Pakistan didn’t escalate.
