Here is how changing the denominator completely changes the GDP growth story.
Officially reported numbers:
- Q1 FY2025–26 nominal GDP: ₹86.05 lakh crore
- Q1 FY2026–27 nominal GDP: ₹88.27 lakh crore
- Growth: 2.6%
But after introducing a new methodology, the government revised last year’s GDP from ₹86.05 lakh crore to ₹80 lakh crore.
Revised calculation
- Revised Q1 FY2025–26 GDP: ₹80 lakh crore
- Q1 FY2026–27 GDP: ₹88.27 lakh crore
- Reported nominal growth: 10.3%
The current GDP number did not change. The denominator was reduced, and the reported growth rate automatically increased.
They lost 1.5L cr on SGB.
Reintroduced LTCG,hiked it to 12.5%, removed indexation.
Hiked STCG to 20%
Hiked up trading margins.
Hiked STT by 500%.
E20 scam.
Chased away FIIs.
Brought UGC.
Next year they'll make a movie on all these calling them MASTERSTROKES

Government has been full considers traders as money minted lab rats. Finance ministry must take a bow with full of shameless system and shamelessly nurtured officers.
Here is my take on the changing options landscape.
Today, everyone has access to the best computing, vast amounts of data, and tools that allow them to create and test almost any strategy they can think of. When something becomes accessible to everyone, it stops being an edge.
Over time, options trading will mature just like every other financial instrument.
OPTION SELLERS WILL CONTINUE TO MAKE MONEY
As a seller, you are taking on additional risk, and markets should reward you for that risk. That is the risk premium you get and it is unlikely to change.
What will change is the reward-to-risk equation.
Think about it:
- FDs give around 6% for taking almost no risk.
- Corporate bonds may give around 9% for slightly higher risk.
- Equities may deliver 12% or so for taking even more risk.
No mature asset class consistently offers 15–18%+ annualized returns while carrying only a 2–3% drawdown.
As more participants exploit the available opportunities, returns will compress and risks will rise until the reward matches the risk being taken. That's what happens in every mature market.
The biggest mistake is assuming that historical returns will continue with the same level of risk.
Eventually, the market won't reward you for your strategy alone.
It will reward you for the risk you are willing to take.
Indian stock markets are no longer being managed by visionaries. They’re being micromanaged by bureaucrats who treat traders like tax-paying lab rats.
This government keeps bragging about India becoming a global financial superpower while simultaneously strangling the very people who keep the markets alive. Retail participation exploded because ordinary Indians finally took risk, learned markets, provided liquidity, and believed they could build wealth outside traditional systems. And what did the government do? Tax them from every possible angle and regulate them into exhaustion.
STT. GST. Capital gains tax. Constant derivatives crackdowns. Random rule changes every few months. Policies designed by people who probably think option Greeks are a college fraternity.
The hypocrisy is insane. They celebrate record demat accounts on stage while quietly making active participation more expensive, more difficult, and less rewarding every single year.
You cannot build a world class capital market with a third world policymaking mindset obsessed with extraction over growth. Every new announcement feels less like economic reform and more like a desperate cash grab from the only section of young Indians still willing to take financial risk in this economy.
And the scary part? This slow destruction won’t show up immediately. Liquidity dries slowly. Innovation dies quietly. Risk appetite disappears gradually. One day the government will wake up wondering why participation collapsed after spending years treating traders and investors like enemies instead of economic contributors.
This is how NDA has steadily burdened investors and traders layering taxes, increasing them budget after budget.
FIIs keep pulling money out, the currency keeps weakening and yet, the FM says, "Humara rupaya theek kar raha hai".
Keep hoping, shock absorbers!!
Pic- @Niftee50
If you buy and sell 1 lot of nifty futures you are paying over 880 as tradinf cost
That is 14 points
Add spread 6 -10 point average
Total you need atleast 1500rs profit just to breakeven that is 24 points .
This is clearly day light robbery and tax terrorism.
After this if you somehow manage to make profit you have to pay 30% tax .
This is insane !!
A trader FY25 P&L:
Profit: ₹75L
STT: ₹1.32 Cr
Exchange: ₹90L
GST + Stamp + rest: ₹25L
Net: -₹2 Cr
Everyone ate 7 Course meal
Government ate.
Exchange ate.
Broker ate.
Except him. He was the meal!
He's the side hustle.
Government and brokers are the main business
26th March - Holiday
28th March - holiday
29th march - holiday
30th mar - expiry on year-end
31st mar - holiday
1st April - First day of the new year
2nd April - trading
3rd apr - holiday
4th apr - holiday
5th apr - holiday
Out of the next 10 days, 7 days are trading holidays in the Indian stock market.
However, when we asked for a holiday on Holi, they gave it on the wrong day.
This shows their professionalism, and this is exactly why FIIs or nobody else wants to invest in the indian stock market.
I like it when ppl say "mature markets", "all other markets have it,so we shd too" - perfect capitalistic approach, great!
But then suddenly we start screaming - F&O bad, expiries bad, retail ko loss ho raha h - a socialistic mindset.
We can't have it both ways.
@Ajay_Bagga Boss, one more highlight what many people not noticed that people whom they had given responsibility are officer level of SDE/ Sub divisional Engineer. RIP human resource
@Vipster007 More or less create FD at least two year yearly package atleast before qualifying (not going for) as professional trading.
Divide your capital atleast in five . Use one by one in winning trade only
Dear friend @raghav_chadha your understanding of STT seems flawed.
Increasing STT does not reduce speculation or make traders profitable.
It only raises transaction costs and eventually will push volumes offshore or into informal setups.
Education & risk control curb losses not punitive taxes.
