Crying for diving ??? Anyone coming here and saying that's not a yellow should stop watching football 🤷🤷 Absolutely pathetic dive to just make paredes get booked 🤣😭 see how far paredes is
🚨 𝗡𝗘𝗪: The VAR had already dealt with a similar situation to the Paredes - Embolo one at this World Cup during USA vs. Paraguay... It's called 'mistaken identity':
• Tim Ream was initially booked for a supposed foul on Miguel Almirón. However, after the free-kick had been taken, referee Danny Makkelie was sent to the monitor.
• Makkelie overturned the decision, rescinded Ream’s yellow card and instead booked Almirón for diving, the first VAR intervention for mistaken identity at a World Cup.
• The same thing has now happened in Argentina vs. Switzerland as Leandro Paredes was initially shown a yellow card for a challenge on Breel Embolo, but the VAR spotted that Embolo had dived
• Then, Paredes’ booking was overturned, while Embolo was shown a yellow card... Because it was Embolo’s second booking, he was sent off.
I want to enjoy every single minute of Messi at this World Cup without missing any of it, because I know this could be the last time I properly watch him play.
It's potentially his last international tournament, and I rarely watch him with Miami because of the time difference.
It's a sad thought, but we're reaching the point where every game could be one of the last memories we make watching Messi on a football pitch.
What fascinates me more than the hat-trick is one question I’d love to ask Messi: How did you make them love you this much? Messi has reached a level with his teammates that even Maradona never truly achieved throughout his career.
The man in front of you is the same player who, after Argentina reached the 2014 World Cup final, had Mascherano walk up to him and say: “I’m tired of seeing you suffer. Today, we’re playing only for your happiness.” When the media criticized Messi, Agüero said they used to ask themselves just one question: “How can we get the ball to him in the best possible position to prove he’s the best?”
Then came Copa América 2021, when Di María said: “I was ready to break my leg if it meant Messi could win an international trophy.” Less than a year later, the level of devotion had somehow gone even higher. De Paul said: “I could go to war for him without even knowing the reason.” Emiliano Martínez went even further: “I’d be willing to die for Messi on the pitch.”
Now we’ve reached 2026. Do you think anything has changed? If anything, it’s become even stronger. Álvarez and Lautaro received chances they could have finished themselves, yet they waited for Messi and squared the ball to him so he could complete his hat-trick.
This Argentina team moves as one, beats as one, and rallies behind one name:
Messi. 🐐🇦🇷
The whole blaugrana family is together, hearts racing, counting down the minutes until kickoff.
We don’t know what the outcome will be, but one thing’s for sure: we’ll give everything we’ve got out there.
With pride, passion, and belief until the very last second.
We will give it our all. 🔵🔴
