In my unit on ‘Plastic pollution’ Im getting students to create single-use plastic bins to put on the beach. #EDUC4750
This starfish bin is a great idea to represent to the rest of the community just how much single-use plastics we use.
Our Starfish bin in Hopkins is filling up really well. We are super pleased to see our coastal community members supporting us in this way! Thank you all so much. We can't wait to find out how many bottles it holds 🤗

Get students engaged and promote deep understanding on subject matter through visual literacy (Minor, 2021).
Multi-media plays a huge part in understanding literacy in the 21st Century #EDUC4750
Show this to your students and discuss key messages this image portrays.
The plastic pollution crisis is one of the most visible symptoms of a broken system that is failing both us and the planet we call home.
Together we can built a plastic-free future. Check our toolkit >>> https://t.co/hUtMZuDN5Z
In my unit on 'Plastic Pollution' there is a particular focus on single-use plastics, as student are required to think critically and creatively to build reusable products out of plastic waste. #EDUC4750 Watch this video how they transform waste to reuse.

21st Century learning is the foundation of 'creating a comprehensive set of cognitive, social and emotional capabilities to better face the socio-economic challenges' (Doecke & Maire, 2019).
Most have heard of the 4 C's, but have you heard of the 6 21st C skills? #UoNTeach
@millee_ann2022 Not only are the studnets leanring persuasive writing to improve their writing, they are achieving this through meaningful, real life learning that allows them to think more critical and become more knowledgeable and responsible for things that are occurring in their community!
I love this example of KLAs being combined for a lesson. For my integrated unit I plan on doing something similar and integrating literacy by having students write their own persuasive texts about why it is important for people to take action to protect the ocean. #UoNTeach

Podcasts are an awesome way to integrate 21st century skill into my unit on 'Plastic pollution' 🎙🌎
This will allow students to research, engage and #Takeaction on real life issues to share with others in their community #EDUC4750
National geographic provides great lesson plans of STEM being incorporated into the classroom.
I am definitely going to use one of these in my plastic pollution unit of work #EDUC4750

@SamuelGannon7 Great way to allow students to participate in meaningful learning as they share their voice on plastic pollution through the use of technology. I have heard POWTOON https://t.co/hmg0ka98X8 can be a goof video creater resource that you may want to consider to use in the classroom
@SarahPrice720 I love this idea! This has so many enriching learning benefits for the students and the community. Students are able to take part of important initiatives in their community meanwhile participate in creative and critical thinking activities.
In my unit on Plastic Pollution my pedagogical approach will be to provide opportunities for enriching curriculum, fosters civic responsibility, and improve communities which is achieve through SERVICE LEARNING (Bowen, 2014).
Who's heard of this approach before? #EDUC4750
Some great ways to create #innovative spaces into your classroom!
This one is worth a read 👉🏽 https://t.co/CT5fwTWwai
(Ferguson et al, 2019) Real life leanring has been seen as a critical part of creating engaging and meaningful leanring experiences. #EDUC4750
“We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking.”
How do you encourage #innovation in your spaces?
👍Project Based Learning (#PBL)
👍Teach concepts, not facts
👍Make skills as important as knowledge
👍Form teams, not groups
