honestly the headloss around charles leclerc this season is crazy, did he make a few mistake ? yes & so has every other drivers, he also had to go through mechanical dnfs, bad strategy calls and a car that sometimes frankly sucks ass, this is not some catastrophic downfall
Bravo Charles a prendersi la responsabilità dell’errore senza cercare scuse né scaricare colpe sugli altri. Onestà, trasparenza e integrità morale. C’è chi dovrebbe decisamente prendere appunti
Mega lap from Lewis. Kept it neat and tidy. That is simply the quickest way around an ice rink.
For Charles, unfortunately, a repeat of the first lap in Q3. Some trouble with the rear in the high-speed turns 5-6-7-8. Pays 2 tenths on both laps. P4 with Hadjar's penalty.
Dirt side of the grid for both drivers, but not too fussed either way.
The track offers opportunities to overtake. Charles' tyre management has been a highlight so far this weekend. That will count for something tomorrow if he's able to pick his battles wisely.
"fourth place is good enough to fight on the front for more, and particularly on a track where tyre overheating, tyre degradation, strategy will play such an important role, i still consider us in the fight.
[...] there’s been some impressive (long run) laps by mercedes here and there, there’s been some impressive laps by red bull here and there. but i feel like we are in the mix at least to fight with them.”
YESS!!!!
“i hope i’m not wrong, but i think it will create a bit more of an exciting race tomorrow with different strategies available, we’ve already seen different drivers doing different things with the tyre allocation, including me obviously. so, if we do the right thing, there’s obviously a lot of potential to do something special when degradation is so high."
charles on the long run:
"we are relatively close to the guys in front so yeah, i think so (can take the fight tomorrow). but mercedes seemed to be really strong yesterday, also this morning... today in qualifying, maybe a bit less strong than what we expected, so i expect them to be back to where they normally are in the race and, if so, it's going to be difficult to beat them"
Fred: « It’s a good qualy but the success is on Sunday, it’s never on Saturday. On top, we know that this one will be a lot about degradation, about race pace, about tyre management much more than great position.
But I prefer to have a good quali than not. Starting from the first and second row with Lewis and Charles is a good start, but we have to now put all our focus on the race. I think we are not that far away from Max (with tyre choice).
For sure, it’s difficult to read the tyres on Friday because you don’t have so many laps. The track was very dirty yesterday. I think we all have different opinions on the different compounds, and we’ll see tomorrow, but it’s not an easy exercise. »

@tryinspanish I mean, all we can do now is to trust that they’ll keep up with their established keeping 1644 battle it out on track thing. Have they genuinely thought or implied of doing team orders this time around?
@tryinspanish On the other hand, Kimi is clearly having a hard time due to Mercedes fucking up their upgrades. I don’t think Charles would completely struggle against Kimi like he usually does, there’s going to be a bit more equal footing between them tomorrow.
Is there still a really solid chance of a podium?
Charles: "Definitely, yes, because everything we’ve seen so far gives us reason to hope that we’ll be competitive in terms of performance tomorrow. The only ones who are a little more difficult to predict are Mercedes. I think they’ve had some sessions where they were extremely fast, and other laps where they were less fast, and maybe qualifying was one of those cases.
But I expect them to be very fast tomorrow. If they find the performance we saw from them on some of those laps, they’ll be difficult to beat. Otherwise, I think it could also be an interesting race from a strategic and tyre perspective."

@tryinspanish It is disappointing, but it isn’t surprising that he made a misjudgment earlier due to how the track has evolved. For sure, Charles would be bouncing back tomorrow—it’s not completely off of the table for the team to bag a double podium. And Max would probably fly, so. 😭
Of course, Red Bull is the quickest car this weekend and it wouldn’t be the easiest for the Ferraris to beat Max Verstappen of all people—but, a double podium for both Ferraris are not impossible. Let’s learn to trust Charles, omg. 😭
Let’s not write Charles off of the fight for a win or a podium tomorrow, like he is well aware he fucked up his Q3 run and misjudged the track evolution. However, he seems confident that he could fight for a podium alongside Lewis—and seeing the pace earlier, I don’t doubt that.
