Hawaii is largely shielded from HU due to climatological westerly shear + environmental subsidence + cooler waters to the E and NE that tend to stabilize the environment. Super nino -> warmer waters and we found a window of favorable shear, but subsident dry air still present 🙏

Hawaii is now on alert as a tropical disturbance in the Central Pacific has a high chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the coming days. The National Hurricane Center has designated this system Invest 93C. While forecast models remain uncertain on exactly where it could pass, Hawaii should closely monitor the system and finalize hurricane plans in case impacts become a threat.

The next name on the Central Pacific naming list is "Lala."
