For most of human history, babies born months too soon were left to die. They were considered less than full fledged beings, not quite living, not worth saving. The 2nd half of the 20th century, against colleagues advice, a few dared to save them. I am so thankful for that! #nicu

Micro preemies: any baby born BEFORE 26 weeks gestation, OR those that weigh 1 lb 12 oz or less, no matter what gestation.
28 wks at 1 lb 10 oz =micro
26 wks at 1 lb 15 oz = preemie
Up to 25+6 = micro

Cole and Wyatt. 12 weeks I was told, they will be lucky to make it to #viability. 19 weeks I was given the option to "pick one" as one had a better chance of surviving than both. 0% chance of survival to #31weeks. Your child is capable of things no body can predict! #preemie
