@ehanford Yes! The PD is always around the how of navigating their curriculum instead of the why it works. What is the research? Why is it effective? How do you measure effectiveness! Those are the questions we need to be asking and those are the answers we should demand.
@ehanford The inaccuracies are astounding. To me, Sold A Story isnโt about trying to make teachers feel bad. Instead itโs uncovering how schools were sold a way to teach reading that isnโt based on actual science or shown to work for most students. And again SOR is. Not. Just. Phonics.

My students wanted to play Tic Tac Toe with more than 2 people. So they created their own big board version and figured out how to keep track of each person.

For Thanksgiving this year I created a gratitude tree from an umbrella. All the students created a leaf where they wrote what they are grateful for. So fun to see what kids wrote down.
