Both sides suffered defeats yesterday in @Henshalls@ShropCCLeague action. The Firsts lost by 45 runs to @prees_cc whilst the Seconds went down by 9 wickets to @CondoverCC Seconds.
@Ellesmere_CC@ShropCCLeague It’s a healthy debate. As single team clubs in areas such as ours it is difficult to field a side at the best of times. Flexibility regarding number of overs, start times etc is a good start, however there could be more done, especially during the World Cup #ItsComingHome
@leepickford3@DoddsyLad All we are asking for is some flexibility from the league when we have agreed something between the two clubs. Is that too much to ask?
@leepickford3@DoddsyLad It’s difficult for single team clubs to come to a solution, starting early means people who run their own businesses and work Saturday mornings, people on call like retained firefighters, or look after the kids when their partner is working can’t commit to starting at 10.30/11.
@mvclayton All we ask for is for the league to work with the clubs, not a lot else. If it means rearranging for a different weekend that works for both teams then great, not saying that teams are restricted to specific days!
@mvclayton Ok fair point. We all give up our time and put work in to keep our clubs going, however without the flexibility from the league what are we meant to do?! It’s an unenviable job organising a league, however they can make it easy for themselves...
@chris24robin@Henshalls@ShropCCLeague Exactly our point. The league think they need to babysit us through the year, however we are big and ugly enough to make a decision for ourselves. Once every few years that this happens with the World Cup, the league need to get over themselves @ShropCCLeague
@chris24robin@Henshalls@ShropCCLeague For both team so far as we are aware. Spoke with a guy from Stretton today and they were struggling for interest on Saturday for a start at 11
@chris24robin Given options that are suitable to themselves. Nothing that allows clubs flexibility. No wonder people are losing interest in the game when the people at the top are so out of touch @Henshalls@ShropCCLeague
@Henshalls@ShropCCLeague what a waste of space. Send an email saying we can start early, have a longer tea, or play on the 8th. Not allow us to play on a date agreed by the captains. No wonder the Shropshire league is in a downward spiral 1/2
We finally had something to shout about after a difficult few weeks with a win v top of the table Hinstock! Nick Ball making a return with a superb 81 and ably supported by Matt Fowles making 75. Hinstock never looked likely to chase 286. #20points#shropshirecricket
The facilities at #Prees#Cricket and Recreation Club looked fantastic last #Saturday. Commiserations to @prees_cc on losing to Much Wenlock, but better luck this week against @stgeorgescc. What would be a #cricketer's #righthomerightplace? Tell us at https://t.co/CMYKWwVJmg
Tough to take today v @overtonondeeCC bowling them out for 164 and coming up 12 runs short with half a team was good going. Good to see the kids having a bowl and applying themselves well with the bat.
Just a reminder that any clubs wanting to enter the Junior T20 Slam (Div2 and below)need to contact Tim Barber [email protected] by end Feb.@ShropCCLeague
