Have a look at what one of our participants had to say about taking part in our study..
Our research is heavily influenced and guided by parents of pre-term children and what is important to them. Feedback plays a vital role in shaping what we do.๐ถ๐ง

The exact way in which that code works is influenced by another set of molecules in each cell called the epigenome. Both types of genetic information can be obtained from cells that are present in saliva, and we use this information to measure immune system function.

SALIVA SAMPLE:
We collect a saliva sample from babies by placing a small cotton swab in their cheek. This sample only takes a couple of minutes to collect.

What are we looking for?
A personโs โgenetic make-upโ may be defined as the molecules in our bodies that we inherit from our parents, which help determine who we are, and how our body grows and develops. This information is held in a โcodeโ that exists in our cells, called DNA.
