There was a false sense of trust and positive reassurance in bad actions. She’s not without fault but she was extremely vulnerable.

@yeppichorong @KevinSabellico It’s really common for epileptics to stop taking their medication because of the side effects. They can cause severe brain fog and make you feel like an absolute idiot but the pros outweigh the cons. I live with my support system. She was alone.

@yeppichorong @KevinSabellico I take 4 different seizure meds because that cocktail is the only one that has stopped me from having seizures. I don’t agree with her choice to stop taking her medicine and it was a stupid one but I can understand her desperation to return to society no matter what.

@KevinSabellico I want you to have empathy and imagine why an obviously intelligent person may have made stupid choices. She was enabled by a bot, with whom she formed a trusting relationship with years prior due to being isolated because of her disability. Lamictal especially makes you pliable.

@valingtine I take 500mg for my epilepsy and it helped stop my seizures almost entirely. If I don’t take it I will have a seizure and the fact that the AI essentially applauded her for ceasing the medication is scary.

@offshoreoddity When my seizures were at their worst I lost all my friends and my job and I was absolutely miserable. You aren’t allowed to drive and it’s hell being scared of having one in public. I can only imagine how alone she felt without her family and the pressure to get citizenship.

@offshoreoddity Epilepsy is also incredibly isolating. She was nowhere near her parents, had to leave her job because of seizures, and couldn’t make friends because she was scared. It makes sense why she would seek out easy communication and “friendship” with a bot.

@twinkpummeler Her trying to wean off her medication was not a smart decision in the slightest but it was motivated by trying to rejoin society. I can imagine how alone she felt and the brain fog she had from her medication.

@twinkpummeler People who don’t have a disability like epilepsy don’t understand just how isolating it can be. She was completely alone in a new country and had to leave her job because of breakthrough seizures. It makes sense why she would lean on easy communication like an ai bot.

@missguided_____ I think it’s an odd sentiment to assume that the only reason a women would be on birth control is for male pleasure. Or that women are not allowed to have any sexual autonomy and make decisions in order to have a healthier sex life.
