The pro-datacenter pushers say we’re “in a race with China.”
The United States already has 13 times as many listed data centers as they do — 4,767 to 376.
China has four times our population.
On a per-person basis that is about 50 times as many sites.
We're so far ahead we can't even see China in the rearview mirror.
And still they want more.
What is the reality of the situation?
They need these data centers to process all the data coming in from the surveillance state/digital prison they are setting up all around us.
Flock cameras everywhere, drones 24/7, gait analysis, facial recognition, social media monitoring, digital id processing, pre-crime calculation crunching, and much, much more.
This is about control and power, and they want us to pay for the infrastructure that will enslave us.
Paul. What an incredible intellectual talent and yet also a builder and a leader with a heart for people. God certainly knew what He was doing on the road to Damascus.
did Trump forget how big tech destroyed speech in this country and went after peoples bank accounts and lives for saying the slightest right wing talking point?
not so long ago!
@GmorganJr Data Center was built in my hometown. The noise pollution destroyed housing value all around it. They had a panel to try and persuade the community it was good, ended up with the data center saying suck it up. These things are no good.
Never forget that the NSA spied on us in violation of the Constitution and in SECRET.
Flock cameras will always be used against us and in violation of the Constitition no matter what regulations they claim to put in place.
@NDRepublicans “Make law enforcement too effective.” Yeah okay buddy that’s what flock is doing.
Meanwhile police officers one county over are being prosecuted for using flock to harass and stalk ex girlfriends.
Conservatism is cooked.
MORE FLOCK CAMERA CONTROVERSY: The Texas town of Pflugerville had a city council meeting about their 28 Flock cameras…turns out that not only was city data released NATIONWIDE, but 450 agencies were tapping into the city’s Flock camera system.
Only 80 agencies had city approval to do so.
Per the local police department, “an issue was discovered in the Flock operating system which permitted non-partner law enforcement agencies to access the City’s Flock data”.
In response the city has been putting black bags over the Flock cameras and last night declined a new $175,000 contract with the company.

@allie__voss We need to bring back long term inpatient psychiatric programs for those with severe mental health issues. Until that is on the table everything else is nonsense. People with severe psychiatric disorders do not need to be locked in prison.
My friend makes $72,000 a year.
Everyone keeps telling him that’s a “good salary.”
So we actually did the math.
Take-home pay: $4,540/month
Rent: -$1,850
Car + insurance: -$690
Groceries: -$520
Utilities + internet: -$240
Health insurance: -$390
Gas: -$180
Phone: -$75
Student loan: -$310
That leaves: $285.
For restaurants.
Clothes.
Car repairs.
Birthdays.
Vacations.
Emergencies.
Retirement.
Literally everything that makes life more than working, eating and sleeping.
This is someone earning $72,000.
Not minimum wage.
Not unemployed.
Not “bad with money.”
$72,000.
I checked the math three times because I genuinely thought we had forgotten several hundred dollars somewhere.
We hadn’t.
Apparently “good salary” now means you can afford all your bills as long as absolutely nothing happens to you.
