@gae_sects@ChristianaBlik1@misthiOSX well, for one, she did infringe on a copyright. for a court to find against her would inevitably create some weird loophole in IP law. downstream, that would absolutely smack smaller creators in the face. the whole thing about the law is that it must be consistent
@gae_sects@ChristianaBlik1@misthiOSX do you think that wealthy entities would be more or less able to take advantage of a system without trademark protections?
@gae_sects@ChristianaBlik1@misthiOSX the law has to be enforced unilaterally. if you create any type of unequal precedent, you're creating more possibilities for abuse for wealthy entities.
@imjuliburns@_JETFIGHTERMAN_ If you were Arthur Harris, you have surrendered to the axis in ww2 or would you have bombed Hamburg and Dresden? Genuine question.
@imjuliburns@_JETFIGHTERMAN_ dude, you replied to a post saying strategic bombing should be banned by giving a reason why you agreed with that. come on now. it's a philosophically defensible position-don't go backtracking on yourself.
@imjuliburns@_JETFIGHTERMAN_ yeah, again, that's just so vague. literally the aim of every war is to bring the other country to its knees. i dont know you-you might know more. i dont really get that impression, given how you arent really finishing any of the points youre making.
@imjuliburns@_JETFIGHTERMAN_ again, this is just not the original discussion. we can absolutely debate the merits of the war, but this is so far off from making strategic bombing illegal that im forgetting how exactly we arrived here.
@imjuliburns@_JETFIGHTERMAN_ the us should have fought the cold war. the ussr was an expansionist regime that propped up oppressive puppet regimes all across eastern europe that was also aggressively pursuing nuclear weapons. and the world's largest economy will naturally be a hegemon
@imjuliburns@_JETFIGHTERMAN_ also, the us is not terror bombing iran. there are abhorrent instances of us strikes destroying civilian installations, but those instances don't speak to a larger strategy. if it was the goal of the us to terror bomb iran, we would see orders of magnitude more destruction
@imjuliburns@_JETFIGHTERMAN_ i think the issue is that you think that there was some point where strategic bombing stopped working, while american military doctrine would say that we just haven't bombed enough. NYT reported earlier in the month that the majority of iranian launchers are operable 1/2
@imjuliburns@_JETFIGHTERMAN_ i mean, i don't think the us demands other countries fight without the means available to them. i'd love to hear an example of what you're talking about if you have one. we do use diplomatic, economic, and military levers to compel state action-just like every hegemon ever
