Happy statehood day Arizona! Showing my love for AZ by filing today to run for state Senate in Tucson's new LD18 - because we need a mom, enviro lawyer + voting rights advocate in the #AZLeg
See @priya4az + visit https://t.co/a6diAyes0y to help me qualify for the ballot!
Cornyn: “I don’t understand how the SAVE Act disenfranchises voters.”
Durbin: “Driver’s licenses don’t qualify. 50% of Americans don’t have passports.”
Cornyn: “Why not just amend it?”
Durbin: “When’s the last time the Senate actually amended a bill?”
Silence.
The SAVE Act requires passport-level documentation to register to vote.
50% of Americans don’t have a passport.
The people least likely to have one: the elderly, the poor, rural Americans, young first-time voters.
The people most likely to have one: wealthy Americans..
No surprise. After Trump failed to reimburse Florida for Alligator Alcatraz, the state is now moving to shut it down.
Nearly a billion dollars of taxpayer money.
Inhumane conditions.
Environmental travesty.
Ron DeSantis built this. Branded it. Gave no bid contracts to his buddies. Threw a party to celebrate it. Now he wants to quietly shut it down and hope no one notices.
We notice.
And every official who let it happen will answer for it.
Huge congratulations to Arizona’s own @SenMarkKelly for being named @TIME Most Influential People.
Senator Kelly has dedicated his life to serving his country. He’s been a fighter for Arizona in the Senate and I know he’ll continue being a champion for our state.
Today, I promised to veto all bills that come to my desk and again invited legislative Republicans to show their budget plans to the people of this state. I’m ready to talk, but I can’t negotiate with politicians who refuse to show the public their plans.
The legislative majority needs to put forward their budget proposal and then join me in good faith negotiations so we can pass a bipartisan, balanced budget like we’ve done the past three years.
BBC News, "This heat wave in the United States would be virtually impossible without human induced climate change"
"In Arizona yesterday, they recorded their highest ever March temperature, 44 °C"
The order is deeply, deeply unserious.
Remove the constitutionality question for a moment.
An example: It wants all ballots cast ballots with a unique identifier thereby negating the secret ballot principle.
But even if you remove that, this paper is extremely expensive and untested (Mark Finchem wanted Arizona to use it.) There is a very high chance that most tabulators would not even be able to read these ballots.
Just one example in a very, very, long line of examples of how problematic this is.
Note the Senator leaving out the double doors as the moment of silence for Rev. Jesse Jackson begins.
It’s Senator Hoffman.
That was yesterday.
Today, he asked that the Senate pass two bills to honor Charlie Kirk. While he asked for respect for his friend, he showed little for a pillar of the Civil Rights movement who was a friend of many.

Today, the Trump administration repealed the endangerment finding: the ruling that served as the basis for limits on tailpipe emissions and power plant rules. Without it, we’ll be less safe, less healthy and less able to fight climate change — all so the fossil fuel industry can make even more money.
This Minneapolis resident just said what everyone should be feeling right now:
“This started as a pretext about immigration and fraud… it’s WELL beyond that now.
It’s your 2nd Amendment, your 4th Amendment, your 6th Amendment.”
“We’re performing CPR on what may already be a corpse called the Constitution.”
Wake up. This isn’t just Minneapolis. It’s ALL of us.
This isn’t leadership. This is blackmail.
The Department of Justice has now told Minnesota officials that they will remove ICE if they hand over their voter rolls - this is not how the law works.
Don’t let this White House lie to you. Believe what you see.
Alex Pretti was trying to help a woman off the ground. Then immigration agents tackled, shot, and killed him.
It’s time for them to get the hell out of MN.
The most disturbing government abuses of administrative data aren't necessarily the data they're *deleting* but the data they're *collecting.*
The Trump administration is compiling lists of dissidents, immigrants, people with disabilities, Jews. https://t.co/mlziSNt5oZ
“John Abernathy, a photographer from Minneapolis, was flat on the ground. He had the knees of at least one federal officer on his back…. He was surrounded by dozens of officers deploying something ― tear gas, he thinks ― that made it hard to see or breathe. He felt like he could puke or pass out.”
There are no words. ICE agents ate lunch at a small local Mexican restaurant in Minnesota, enjoyed their meal, then came back later that night as the restaurant was closing down and arrested the people who had served them.
Keith Porter Jr. was a father of two, a son, and a brother whose life was stolen by an off-duty ICE agent. His family gathered in grief demanding the truth. We will continue to stand with Keith Porter Jr.’s family until there is justice, transparency, and answers.
