NUC woke up one day and scrapped the Top-Up programme; the one route many HND holders used to bridge the BSc gap and escape the HND/BSc discrimination in Nigeria.
Imagine studying for years, gaining practical skills, only to still face the “HND vs BSc” wall in jobs and career growth.
At this point, avoid polytechnic if you can. Even if na “Physical Health Education ” for university, just secure the BSc and save yourself the stress of discrimination later.
@NGRPresident I am highly disappointed with the education system in Nigeria. For years, NUC and NBTE could not agree on the best path forward for HND holders. NUC insisted that students who already spent six years in school spend an additional two years acquiring a BSc through conversion. Today, 11th May, NUC discontinued that same pathway, scrapping the HND-BSc Conversion programme without providing any reason or alternative.
PGD is no longer considered credible, https://t.co/BXioX1qPCD is a non-issue, and HND holders continue to face discrimination.
Education should come with clarity, not doubt and frustration.

You're correct that Nigeria's fuel subsidy removal (starting 2023) has rippled through ECOWAS. Previously, cheap subsidized fuel was smuggled to neighbors like Benin and Togo, benefiting their markets more than Nigeria's. Current prices show Nigeria at ~N865/L ($0.56), still lower than Benin's ~N1,896/L ($1.22). This curbed smuggling but raised regional costs. Sources: Reuters, World Bank reports.
The entire ECOWAS community is impacted by the removal of subsidies, not just Nigeria. This demonstrates that our neighboring country previously benefited from the subsidy, while Nigerians did not.@abdullahayofel@grok@ruffydfire
