the original vampire.

“i cried tears of love as i, with sharp
things, sacrificed that which was the
first part of my joy. my brother.”

still shaking like a dog, she sat still in the backseat of his suv. silent tears streamed down her face as she met his gaze in the rearview mirror.
her lips parted, as if she was attempting to speak but nothing came out.
cain opened the backseat of his suv, stuffing her inside then slamming the door. he calmed himself with a breath then got into the driver’s seat.
his eyes flitted to the rearview mirror to watch her. “that wasn’t so hard.”
she couldn’t breathe, her mind flashing back to what she had already gone through.
scared into silence as he growled, his sharp teeth giving her the slightest understanding. no words left her, just a terrified nod — no longer fighting him.
cain calmly stepped closer, studying levi’s face before giving it a soft pat on his cheek.
“nothing for you to worry about, my boy. keep up the good work,” he echoed his earlier sentiment. “should you need anything, i am here.”
“yes, my boy, you have.” cain looked at him pointedly, then shook his head. “but i’ll allow you another chance.“
the older vampire clasped his hands behind his back, still sizing leviticus up with immense scrutiny but found no room to judge him. it was a simple mistake.
The sound hits him in a way he's 𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘺 unused to— like the sinking feeling of dissatisfying a sire turned up to a thousand.
". . . Cain," he repeats carefully, more to buy himself time to process than anything. "Have I misspoken already?"
her heartbeat was thundering in his ears, and the scent of her fear was nauseating him.
“stop fighting!” he growled through gritted teeth. his pointed canines made apparent. “if you come with me, i’ll see to it that you’re rewarded.”
maggie almost screamed when he gripped her hand. her heart racing so fast she was scared she’d pass out.
trying to pull away from him, “stop it. let go of me!” she felt her head spinning, the whole moment barely feeling real.
he gave one short nod and dashed towards her in a blink. cain gripped her hand tightly in his, bringing her along with him as he began walking towards his car.
“i tried to ask politely,” he grumbled.
her body stiffened for a moment, heart racing as he asked. he scared her, truly he did. but for some reason she couldn’t stop talking to him and interacting.
“n-no…”
nola felt her stomach drop further when he blinked at her. something felt so… odd.
“i-i still don’t understand why— you want me to like… give an opinion.” she regretted saying it as soon as she spoke,“i’m sorry— i’ve had a long day and i’m trying to figure-” she kept rambling
@hmmerpwr he snapped it shut and set it aside.
“what is it you want to know?” cain crossed one leg over the other, taking his own glass of whiskey and sipping at it.
